xkeyboard-config's Introduction

X Keyboard Extension
--------------------

The X Keyboard (XKB) Extension essentially replaces the core protocol
definition of a keyboard. The extension makes it possible to specify
clearly and explicitly most aspects of keyboard behaviour on a per-key
basis, and to track more closely the logical and physical state of a
keyboard. It also includes a number of keyboard controls designed to
make keyboards more accessible to people with physical impairments.

There are five components that define a complete keyboard mapping:
symbols, geometry, keycodes, compat, and types; these five components
can be combined together using the 'rules' component of the database
provided by this project, xkeyboard-config.

The complete specification for the XKB Extension can be found here:

xkeyboard-config
----------------

This project provides a consistent, well-structured, frequently
released, open source database of keyboard configuration data. The
project is targeted to XKB-based systems.

For XKB configuration information, see:

  docs/README.config

For information on how to enhance the database itself, see:

  docs/README.enhancing

For information on how to replace an older XKB configuration database
with the one provided by this project, see:

  docs/HOWTO.transition

For guidelines to making contributions to this project, see:

xkeyboard-config's Issues

Dvorak doesn't work: order of rules chooses us(dvorak) instead of planet_vndr/cosmo(dvorak)

In evdev / base rules, * dvorak = pc+us(dvorak) comes before planetcosmo * = pc+planet_vndr/cosmo(%l). As a result, trying to set the keyboard map to model planetcosmo and layout dvorak chooses the non-planetcosmo dvorak layout, which results in there being no s key, amongst other problems.

I can fix this by reordering the lines, but I'm not quite sure how to do so in the "correct" way, by changing the .part files, and so have this as an issue rather than directly making a PR.

Esc key not working

Esc key does not work for me maybe due to commit 71bb1e8.

Add slovak keyboard map

Hallo,
I am new here. I am owner Gemini PDA with EN(US) keyboard layout. I would like include slovak keyboard layout into Debian (Gemini). If it is possible, I attached one. It is derived from Czech (CZ), the changes are: ľ, ť, ô, ä.

Thank you
Ladislav
P.S.
I am not a programmer :(
