iddsampledriver's Issues

How to create a device?

Hi,I can create a monitor with the guide, but I want to use this Driver with my
code. How can I achieve this idea? I'm not a driver developer,if you can give some suggestions,I'll really appratiate your help

Question: multiple GPUs?

Hi, I might be missing something... but what if I need a "fake" monitor, with two passed-through GPUs? How do I assign one IddSampleDriver per card? Is this even possible?

Question: installation path

Hey.. I am a beginner taking about win32api via c++.. so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question..

I'm developing a little app for myself and I was wondering if it's alright if I unzip the release to somewhere else except C:\IddSampleDriver\ like `C:\MyProject\utils'

(If i need to recompile it.. i can't install wdk or visual studio right now so can I make changes directly to the .inf file if required via notepad++ or vscode and then generate a catalog and certificate for it?)

another sorry if my english is bad...

Lower GPU Performance and jittery input latency

Hey, I have successfully installed the driver, and am using Looking Glass on an optimal setting. Using GPU Passthrough I have done this. When I just use IDD Sample Driver, I get significantly lower FPS in games, and worse input latency/ visible stuttering ?
When I plug an input into the GPU then use it, with the Sample Driver disabled, everything acts as it should.

Add more resolutions w/out full removal/reinstall?

I need to add some more resolutions but I tried to simply update the driver but Windows tells me it's already installed the best version.

Is there any way to update the the driver w/out full removal of the device and reinstall?
I ask because this generates a new display ID such as \.\DISPLAY6 -- and I have scripts using it by name so I'd like to avoid having to update all of those.

I did try to change the iddsampledriver.inf file and update the DriverVer line to increase the date/number but no luck there, it still tells me I have the latest driver.

Any insight here is appreciated.

not working on windows 11 (code 31)

after installing i get a message in device manager about the drivers not being able to be loaded for this device, including 'the alpc message requested is no longer available'

Code 19 error

While doing the installation on a vm with windows 10 22H2, im getting error code 19. No virtual monitor is detected

How to enable HDR?

Is there any way for me to turn on HDR so that it work with moonlight streaming.

Windows 11

Hi, I'm sorry to bother but I was wondering if this works in windows 11?

Wrong refresh rate on multi-monitor

Hi and thanks for very useful driver.
I'm using it in combination with a real screen to extend it on my laptop screen.
So this is the configuration:
Virtual machine with gpu passthrough that outputs on a real screen (primary) and the Virtual driver used as reference screen in looking glass under linux, that acts as a secondary screen that i can use on my laptop.
Everything works fine, except for the refresh rate.
The real screen is capped at 60hz, while the virtual one should be capped at 144hz (i've set in the config file, and in windows properties).
Anyway also the virtual one is visualized at 60hz (i can spot the difference from a 144hz).
I can confirm that if i do NOT use the physical screen but only the virtual one as main screen the refresh rate is correctly set at 144hz.
Any clues for this?

Thanks

How can I change the amount of monitors?

Hello ge9,

I want to use your really helpfull tool but there is onething I want: Can I only have 1 virtual monitor instead of 5?
I couldn't find it anywhere? Would really like it if you could help me.

CPU show 0% usage
GPU ( MSI GTX1080ti) 0% usage
32GB DDR5 low usage

3 screens (real)
1x 4k HDR
2x HFD (sometime horizontal)
They are mix . some HDMI some DP

New GPU drivers
windows 11 pro full update.

Any solution or update?

The parameter is incorrect

Hi, when I follow instructions from here, device manager shows me error:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device"
"Parameter is incorrect"

I dont know what can cause this, but i tried scoop method too, and it says that Driver has been installed successfully, but still doesnt work either and device manager shows unknown device w/o yellow triangle.

Any help is appreciated

How to set 12 bit depth?

I have resolution and refresh rate work as expected, I notice in windows 11, it shows 8bit in color depth, how to get 12bit?
