We've also noticed that the Leading Article Class: .image-left doesn't work properly — it positions the image to the left but doesn't position the text to the right of the image.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce your issue :( Is there a chance that you can provide some screenshots where are you setting this class, so I can easily find what's going on?

Yes the class (syw-news) is entered in the Page Class field under Page Display in the blog menu item. The biggest issue is that image float doesn't work and we can't get text to align to the right of an image. A couple other issues requre a template override.
