alex-tools's Issues

makeAlexGetByte and non-ASCII text

makeAlexGetByte currently requires that you provide a function Char -> Word8. However, this is not possible for non ASCII text. An easy solution to that would be to instead have makeAlexGetByte take a function Char -> [Word8]. Iโ€™m happy to make a PR if you like that solution but I wanted to ask first if there is some specific reason for the current behavior or if you have a better solution.

Make alex-tools compatible with GHC 8.4

Hi,

alex-tools 0.3 compiles fine with GHC 8.4.1 but refuses to do so because of base < 4.11, template-haskell < 2.13 - which are exactly the versions delivered with GHC 8.4.1.

Could you please make a revision of alex-tools 0.3 with base < 4.12, template-haskell < 2.14 to support GHC 8.4? You don't even need to build, tag, and upload a new package, dependencies can be changed via a so-called revision - see https://github.com/haskell-infra/hackage-trustees/blob/master/revisions-information.md for information and https://hackage.haskell.org/package/language-lua-0.10.0/revisions/ for an example.
