fluentweather's Issues

Text color issue in Light mode

When using system-wide light mode the text color in the app is always black and harder to read, unlike when using dark mode which have white text.

Screenshot 2023-09-15 214118
FluentWeather when using Windows 11 in Light mode

Changing unit type results in some weird results where numbers change, but units don't.

image

  • Wind: units are the same between Hybrid and Imperial, but speed and direction changed.
  • Pressure: Number is all the same, despite the units being different
  • Humidity: Hybrid is different from both Imperial and Metric, despite the units being the same.
  • Visibility: units are the same between Metric and Hybrid, but the distance changed.

Appears that there's some incorrect conversion going on under the covers. Or, if the API is returning these values based on a "units" parameter, it's not a very good API...

Feature Request: Show total daily rain

Along with Wind, Pressure, Humidity, etc.

Having to click individually on every hour to see the mm of rain is quite tedious.

Thanks for the amazing project!

LiveTile Improvements - Timestamp and Freshness Check

Please consider improving the LiveTile feature in these ways:

  • A text-based label for last checked (e.g. 3m ago)
  • Only update LiveTile if the data has changed since last check (avoids rotate animation with no new data)

example tile

Hour format + detailed hourly forecast data

I know some people (military?) like the 24 hour format, but for me, I have to do the mental math exercise (be nice) to arrive at the 12 hour format. AM/PM would be much easier or just make it optional on the app.
As an outdoor sportsman, I would like to see hourly precipitation percentage forecast

Polishing on the Hours interface

I see this line and also the bar together, is there a possibility that the line is cut and just below the % and the scroll bar is lower?

Features & improvements

Hi @Gabboxl and contributors,

Thanks for FluentWeather, this was very needed. I opened this issue to share some improvements/ideas, let me know what you think.

Visibility

The app was quite hard to find, I added it to AlternativeTo and hopefully it will get more visibility.

Improvements

Example : Hide pressure and visibility tiles + hide weather insights (all tiles) + only show 4 next hourly forecasts

  • Make resized app window more responsive and make tiles take full width on smaller windows.
  • Add option to hide scrollbar(s)
  • Replace location and last updated text with a location button. That button shows a dropdown menu of your location and last updated info + could also get a feature where we can add more than one location and switch between them in that menu.
  • Move new location button + settings button + refresh button next to each other. Preferably somewhere where it doesn't overlap on other weather tiles (next to "search a place" bar for example)

Ideas :

For the inspiration, you can look at the open-source Android app called Breezy Weather for example. The app got great responsiveness and the UI is clean. Even on desktop with WSA.

Reduce background opacity

Sometimes, text may become unclear due to its proximity to the background color(Especially in light theme)

Reducing the opacity of the background may be better
like this:

Alternatively, the theme can be set to dark mode by default

The weather location searched is not translated

The weather location searched is not translated

image

As you can see, the searched weather location is not translated, is this a problem with the weather data source, or is it some other bug? The location shown on the picture is Hunyuan County, Datong, Shanxi, People's Republic of China, which translates into Chinese Simplified Chinese as 浑源县,大同市,山西省,中华人民共和国 (Simplified Chinese in Chinese mainland)

Add customization of element rounding

Good afternoon. I like your application very much, but there is an element that does not match the design of my windows. The weather elements in your app have an unpleasant rounding, which is trending now, but it doesn't match Windows 10 at all. Could you please add a customization to fix this? Ideally, of course, you could also add a classic acryl.....

New lockscreen weather widget

hi, first awesome app, better than that crappy webapp of msn thank you for developing this, second, so windows developed a new lockscreen widget for displaying the weather:

is it possible to make this for fluentweather?
