@lh3, you are right if one would need to download the data or the workflows in read data processing are too slow. Suppose you have a Google Maps approach to a Genome Browser or IGV. You can add reads seamlessly based on the analysis you are interested in, if there is some processing that was done beforehand or the computing resources are large. If there is need for more filtering then that can be performed by continuously filtering visually or via an embedded command-line window (i.e. Spotfire).
