diagonalfences's Issues

[Bug]: Missing textures

Mod Loader (Required)

Fabric

Minecraft Version (Required)

1.20.1

Mod Version (Required)

v8.1.0

Notes (Required)

Log: https://mclo.gs/2e9g8YW

I am 99% sure this is the same issue as the other bug reports, the only reason my log is different is because I'm using Modernfix to dynamically load resources so it's not creating an error at runtime. Loading without Modernfix creates the same log with baked models failing like the other reports.

I use fences to detail builds and they don't look right when they always connect diagonally please add a tool or way to make certain fences not diagonal.

Your mod is awesome and it's the only one I can find that does this in 1.20, but it appears to use its own blocks to make the magic happen. I have a long term survival world and I don't want to introduce any mods with their own blocks so I can easily remove anything later.

I realize I'm probably way out of scope here and the answer will almost certainly be "no", but is it at all possible with the way the mod is currently written to make vanilla fence blocks (visually) connect diagonally without doing the server-side block switching, perhaps with a config option?

[Suggestion]: Compatiblity with Snow! Real Magic

Suggestion (Required)

See the mod here: Snow! Real Magic on GitHub

That mod adds snow below fences and also a nice snow effect on top of fences. It adds a lot of ambience but sadly does not work with diagonal fences:

Without snow:
2023-11-25_14 43 42

With snow:
2023-11-25_14 43 51

It would be awesome if it's possible for you to make diagonal fences compatible with Snow! Real Magic. Thanks for this great mod!

I am on v8.1.2 of Diagonal Fences btw.

[Bug]: Seasonal Snow breaks fences

Minecraft Version(s) (Required)

Mod Version(s) (Required)

v8.1.3

Minimal Setup (Required)

No

Notes (Required)

Found a potential bug. Snowy weather caused by seasonal changes will cause issues with Diagonal Fences, reverting them back to default Minecraft fences. Noticed this earlier when I was setting up my new base and found a bunch of my chickens running around when it started snowing. The fences were snow covered and no longer diagonally connected, just four useless fenceposts.

Notes (Required)

Hey Im getting a diagonal fences mod error on a custom modpack server.
basically throughout testing mods, taking some mods out would cause whats in the attatchment, then putting a completely different bunch of mods back in would fix it, sometimes wiping the config folder would fix it when taking mods out. server would run fine, no one could join though. but yeah it seems unrelated to what mods I put in or take out it just kinda happens.

I said it cant be reproduced with minimal set up but it probably can, I just started with alot of mods before testing, like I said though, I don't think its a mod conflict.

[Bug]: Quark custom_fence_post generates many warnings when paired with Diagonal Fences

Mod Loader (Required)

Forge

Minecraft Version (Required)

1.19.2

Mod Version (Required)

4.2.5

Notes (Required)

I have put together a couple of mods for myself including Diagonal fences and another mod Quark by VazkiiMods

As of the minecraft version, mod loader and versions here are the details:

Minecraft 1.19.2
Forge v43.2.3
Diagonal Fences v4.2.5
Quark v3.4-405

It doesn't break the game, it just outputs in the log file this following warning:
[Render thread/WARN]: Unable to resolve texture due to reference chain particle->particle in quark:block/template/custom_fence_post

When I say a lot of lines, I mean it. For example in the latest log file I got 1316 lines of this.

Now I don't think it is an actual problem, everything does work, I tested it with Bamboo fences as an example, I just think it wastes time and memory trying to do something.

I just made this to let you know in case you want to take action about it or not, it's fine either way from me. I will also post this on Quark github.

[Bug]: Diagonal Placement outlines show, but can't place

Mod Version (Required)

Notes (Required)

When trying to place any fence, vanilla or modded, you can see an outline of where it WANTS to connect diagonally, but it just won't.

Using Prominence 2 Fabric modpack edition with no additional mods. I did test every 1.20.1 version of diagonal fences, and none successfully worked.

Mod Loader (Required)

Forge

Minecraft Version (Required)

Mod Version (Required)

Notes (Required)

The crash is during startup. Presumably a mod interaction. The issue exists with both "Diagonal Fences" and "Diagonal Windows", and the issue seems to be the same between them. I've loaded them individually but have not tried them without my other mods present. I am making the assumption that they work normally without the mods though.

NeoForge

Minecraft Version(s) (Optional)

1.20.4

Mod Version(s) (Optional)

No response

Suggestion (Required)

Since this mod doesn't just add new fences but also changes the vanilla ones, that means if the mod is removed all the fences disappear. (The original mod "fence overhaul" just added diagonal variants). Is there a way to prevent that? If diagonal fences ever get implemented to Vanilla MC and s world would be updated to a future version, all the fences would disappear, not just the diagonal ones.

[Bug]: Diagonal Fences prevent Immersive Engineering multiblocks to form

Mod Loader (Required)

Forge

Minecraft Version (Required)

1.20.1

Mod Version (Required)

v8.1.2

Notes (Required)

This isn't a bug so much as it is a call for help on how to add the tag "diagonalfences:non_diagonal_fences" to Immersive Engineering's fences (immersiveengineering:treated_fence) so that multiblocks can form properly. (They form correctly without the mod installed). Or maybe have a blacklist in Diagonal Fences' config?

v8.1.3

Suggestion (Required)

Recently updated from 1.19.2 to 1.20.1 and noticed that many of my builds didn't function as they should when I went to replace fences that were already in the world so that the new block would be in place. We used to get the diagonal fence connection even when slabs or carpet were next to the fence but that isn't the case anymore. Basically, the idea here is to add a way to configure that behaviour and allow forced diagonal connection that ignore whether there is another block next to it in one of the cardinal directions. Maybe some kind of optional blacklist to prevent certain common tags or specific blocks from disabling the diagonal connection.

Title edited to better reflect intent.

I'm experiencing a missing texture problem, that isn't always present. THis can be resolved with a restart, but given that it's happening every other launch, it can be a little frustrating.
