DJI drone flying app with integrations for FreeTAKServer
License: MIT License
Hi team,
When using the FreeTAK UAS app v1.4.9, I set it to multicast mode and put in an rtmp server address which I know to be up on my network (192.168.253.56:1935
). When I press ready, the app then freezes and crashes.
I also tried connecting without multicast mode, but it says that my FTS version (1.9.5) doesn't support the UAS app client.
Do you know what could be causing the crashing in multicast mode? My phone is a Google pixel 3a XL running Android 12, and my drone is a Mavic Air.
After inputting the required settings in the startup menu, FreeTAKUAS crashes immediately after pressing "UAS[Ready]" button. Using rtsp-simple-server for video.
Drone: DJI Mavic Mini 2
Current firmware
DJI Fly version: 1.5.4
FTS version : 1.9 8 in docker
FreeTAKUAS version: 1.4.12
Phone: Samsung Galaxy A5
Android Version: 8.0.0
FreeTAKUAS constantly freezes, crashes, hangs etc.
This was a spare phone for me that I factory reset. Did clean updates to android and only have DJI Fly, FreeTAKUAS, Litchi and tailscale installed.
Drone is a Mini SE with remote it came with. I dont know what other details to post to help figure out what is going on.
Thank you!
It looks like there is a limit of 20 chars for the Ip including the port, his stops configuration of servers like the one below

If a developer wishes to build this app, they must construct a local.properties
file on their local device. They must generate a few API keys and tokens from various sites such as DJI and Here, among others
It may be helpful to include documentation that informs a developer what API keys and values are needed and how to properly construct their local.properties
file
I can get to the control dash for my DJI Mini 2 but nothing displays and I receive the error as in the title. The drone works in DJI Fly, and when connecting in FreeTAK UAS it says registration succeeded and UAS connected.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S20+5G
Model: SM-G986W
Android Version: 12
FreeTAK UAS
Version: 1.4.9
When starting the APP I get a white screen for a second then returned to the APP Tray.
After multiple startup attempts the following is displayed:
Something went wrong with FreeTAK UAS FreeTAKUAS closed because this app has a bug.Try updating this app after its developer provides a fix for this error
Any ideas?
I want to buy a DJI drone and connect it, I don't know if there are model restrictions?
Hi! Can you add offline map in future version? Or use cache like MOBAC, etc.
re-post of FreeTAKTeam/FreeTAKUAS/issues/6:

Hi,
I've been working on a program called OpenAthena which finds the spot on the ground a drone is looking at, in any given photo, using terrain elevation data
It works pretty well:
I'd like to donate, free of license or restriction, this technique and functionality to integrate it with the ATAK-UAS app. Could drastically improve the process of forward artillery observation and search and rescue use cases of the ATAK platform
Required for this technique: a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) GeoTIFF file covering at least the UAS's location and the location of the subject of its camera
With Open Athena, a DEM of a customized area (large or small alike) can be downloaded for offline use (as a GeoTIFF file) by the Python eio clip
command from the easy to use Python elevation
package
I'm away from my workstation at the moment, but I'd like to ask: does ATAK-UAS store a map, including a Digital Elevation Model, for offline use?
If so, it will be pretty easy to implement this technique in the app. All the functionality can be re-wrote with some basic Java, as long as there's a way to obtain the elevation at a certain lat/lon.
Otherwise, if ATAK-UAS currently does not implement a DEM, it should still be fairly simple to add the OpenAthena technique along with a system that can read in a GeoTIFF file into the ATAK-UAS app
No Python required in either case :)
