Seems like there is a typo somewhere that should be corrected to "monotonic".
My version of monotonic was installed as a dependency to pip install python-valve.

$ pip list | grep mono
monotonic (1.4)
$ ./rusts.py 
name 'monontic' is not defined

Could be useful to see if the server version doesn't match with the current version on steam. That way you could easily know if it's safe to update the game.

Don't know how easy this would be.

Started rudimentary work on this in the notifications branch.

Figure out how to organize this script. Notifications aren't needed for the basic functionality for instance.
Adding switches to enable notifications etc? (-m for monitoring?)
