tutorial's Issues

Don't rely on internet connection

Make clear instructions on how to - on forehand - create USB sticks with:

  • Titanium and dependencies
  • Offline documentation
  • Repository
  • Slides

Don't rely on git

Resetting and switching branches makes the tutorial more complex then it needs to be.

It would be better to move everything under the master and have different app folders (app-01, app-02 ..). Then all students have to do is rename the right folder to app and back again.

It would be even better if themes would also support views, so the app folder only contains a config.json where you select the theme.

  • Create JIRA ticket for view-theming

Error running on Android with 3.3.0.GA

Hi Fokke,

First off: thanks for these awesome slides and amazing intro to Titanium app btw, we're going to try using them this Saturday for a free class for people who want to learn about Titanium.

I had some problems when compiling this version for the latest Titanium SDK (3.3.0.GA) and received an error like this on compile:

Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'theme' with value '@style/Theme.AppCompat.Translucent').

I did the following to fix it:

  1. Remove completely the folder /platform/android/res/values
  2. Add the following to tiapp.xml:

The Ti documentation says this about 3.3.0:
"Starting with Release 3.3.0, the Titanium SDK only supports the AppCompat themes and your target SDK level must be 14 or above. If you try to use an unsupported theme, you will either receive a build error that the resource cannot be found or a runtime error that the theme is not supported."
