gotodevops.org's Issues

JavaScript errors on load, filtering doesn't work

Just loading the page and doing nothing dumps this in the console:

e7cdd4635d83e526a4b6.js:1 [nuxt] Error while initializing app DOMException: Failed to execute 'appendChild' on 'Node': This node type does not support this method.

Followed by the rest of the mangled JS stack trace. Consequently, filtering doesn't seem to work at all.

Running:
Chrome - Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)
macOS Mojave 10.14.2

Add interactive map

Add option to display conferences on the world map. Clicking on a conference pin (flag) should reveal a box with more info about the conference. Add option at the top of the table to switch between list and map view.

Issue opening event from frame

Not sure if this is a bug or expected results. Opening this site within a frame produced unexpected results. But directly from GoToDevOps.org works as expected.

Replace Year filter

Recommend replacing the Year filter for something like a Date Range start: and Date Range end: drop-down boxes or some other solution. Because currently there's no way to search like future dates to plan travel arrangements ahead of time.

Add speaker and presentation data

It should be possible to filter / search conferences based on speakers, keywords (e.g. kubernetes, testing, jenkins etc.). This requires to:

  • collect and add the data to the _data/conferences.yml
  • figure out how to best display this data so that the page is not cluttered (e.g. expand conference row?)
  • implement search / filter functionality in Javascript

Conference Postponed

Dear all,

Could you please delete the conference DevOps Fusion on March 18 in Zurich. This conference has been postponed to August 26.

Thank you!

Best regards

Add feature to rank conferences

  • authenticate via github / google
  • rank conference 1 - 5 stars (possibly sub-categories, e.g. food, wifi, location etc.)
  • provide written feedback on a conference
  • display conference rating
  • add rating filters
  • add sorting by rating

Multi-location events

Hi @finspin, curious for how you recommend distinguishing multiple events in conferences.json. For example, this year we had "Monitorama PDX 2019" and "Monitorama Baltimore 2019", in Portland and Baltimore, respectively. There is currently one entry for "Monitorama" (PDX event); if we schedule another event for 2020, how would you recommend we organize them?

Add CFP Data?

Hey - great list! How would you feel about adding an entry into the conferences.yml to collect Call For Papers (CFP) deadline information? I can have a go at sending a PR though if it's something that you are interested in tracking?

Default view: sort by date

The view should be sorted by date. At the moment it appears to be sorted according to the order in the yml.

Add free form to submit requests

Add a url link in the left panel where filters are located, so that any non-technical person such as Field Marketing, Conference Organizers (in Sales or administrative assistants) or anyone can submit the necessary fields that can be automated into a pull request for further review and confirmation that the conference is a valid one before merging.

If it cannot be automated into a pull request, worst case scenario would be to create a free form of the field needed and forwarded to someone via email to get the pull request created.

Dates shown are different than actual yml. Why ?

Why are the dates listed as June 11-13 for MacDevOps:YVR when in the conference.yml the dates are set correctly as June 12-14? I cloned the repo to change the dates when I noticed they are correct. Just wondering why they are displayed differently?
