The address you have seems to be 0x08 for me most of the time, I don't think this is right, especially since it's 1 byte.

00B8EDC8 (for French) seems to be correct, it updates after the intro cutscene when the curtains move, as expected, and it's 4 bytes like other RNG values.

I would like to have the address for the CC Quest progress. Looking at Hyne, it seems like it sets the value to these in the save file:
CC Jack: 0x1
CC Club: 0x3
CC Diamonds: 0x13
CC Spade: 0x17
CC Hearts: 0x1F
Dr Kadowaki: 0x021F
CC King: 0x221F

I have tried looking for these in-game but didn't have any success.
