This software is offered under the General Public License Version 2.1 included in each source code file being provided. The GPL governs the use of any of the versions of NUBIS, and any related updates, source code, appearance, structure and organization (the โ€œ Programs โ€), regardless of the delivery mechanism. Please also note that NubiS comes bundled with third party software licensed under the Apache 2.0, MIT or custom licenses (as listed below). For the complete text of the NubiS license please just refer to the license file. For convenience a generic copy of the Apache 2.0 and MIT licenses are also included with NubiS.

NubiS is a complete data collection tool that has been developed by the team behind the Understanding America Study (UAS) panel at the Center for Economic and Social Research at the University of Southern California.

NubiS runs on any server, pc, laptop or netbook as well as on android tablets or smartphones. The NubiS system includes all the traditional modes of data collection like self-administered, face-to-face, and telephone interviewing. NubiS can also collect continuous information from smartphones, tablets or other external devices like accelerometers, GPS devices, blood pressure meters and other biomedical devices. This information can be combined with survey data and for example used to prompt or ask questions to respondents.

NubiS has been extensively used in a wide variety of data collection projects both within and outside of the US. It is the software of choice for the Understanding America Study and has been employed in several large scale longitudinal surveys as well as a variety of other projects (a sample listing can be found here). To see NubiS in action please just click here to open the demo.

Lastly, please note that NubiS comes bundled with third party software. None of them impose any restrictions on usage EXCEPT FOR Highcharts, which is free to use for academic/non-profit usage only. The following third party software is bundled:
