how big is the MNI152_T1_2mm_brain_symmetric.nii.gz file?
we might consider having C-PAC automatically download template files from a static repository "on-demand" so that people can use that as necessary, instead of always making everybody downloading everything, which would make the C-PAC clone go from MB to GB very quickly and perhaps unnecessarily.

I don't have the file on my home computer so can not check the size of the
file. should be several MB, but the size depends on the spatial resolution
of the image.
Another option is writing some code to generate those template files on the
fly if CPAC could not find them.

i don't understand how to generate the templates on the fly,
my strong preference is to not include data in the C-PAC repository
though...
