fccvienna.github.io's Issues

Background color issues

I just discovered that we have some issues with background color for appearing different for different sections of the page.

See screenshot:

I am using Google Chrome Version 61.0.3163.79 on Ubuntu 16.04.

New favicon for the website

I would suggest adding a favicon to the website (the little icon that shows on browser's upper menu). Here are some suggestions:

I could make the icon, but I would like to have some opinions on which colors we should use or which icon idea is the best.

Using photos from October 2017 meetup

Since we now have new photos from the last meetup of which most are really good and look very professional, I think we should use some of them on the homepage.

My personal suggestion would be to use some of the images below because they kind of show who we are and what we do, which allows people to get a bit of an impression before their first FCC meetup.

Maybe someone could implement a slideshow where the image of the group is right now:

Shadow of navbar-icons is too big

(Not a big issue, I know, but it kinda distracts me O.o)

When hovering an icon in the navbar (big screen needed for their visibility), its background gets darker. But the area which gets darker is too tall, so a small part is also in front of the background. Here is a close up of it:

A way to fix this is, to add the class .material-icons instead of .small (e.g. <li><a href="https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/Free-Code-Camp-Vienna/"><i class="fa fa-meetup material-icons" aria-hidden="true"></i></a></li>).
But this also leads to a smaller icon, so I am not sure if this is worth it.

Should we adapt a gitflow workflow?

Should we adapta Gitflow workflow here as well?
For me it would make sense, since the site is getting bigger and as with the unintended merge in #43, we can establish a fallback for the main site.

I would then set up all instructions for contributing.

@robeerob

Navbar icons and .hover-card changes are undone

I don't know in how far this is intented, but I just recognised that some pull-requests I made are reverted.
Those are:

  • #15 | Update navbar icons in index.html
  • #12 | Add alt-text for images in index.html
  • #9 | card-hover tooltips

Maybe this is due to the merge of the sponsors branche, but as I am new to github I am not sure.

add a section displaying our contributers

People, who have contributed actively with content more than once

especially

  • Mathias List
  • Martin Plochberger
  • Edo Rivai
  • Bonny Dongre
  • Simon Reinsperger
  • Markus Hösel
  • Joachim Tecklenburg
  • Michael Beck
  • Manuel Matuzovic
  • Lukas Tillmann
  • Adi Marvillo

Add contributors to list

Add these contributors to the contributors section on our website.

@calmandniceperson feel free to work on this one if you'd like, seeing that you've just pushed a related PR for this section.

improve display of contributors

  • maybe add circular pictures to the names
  • make sure that all names are linked to their profile/homepage
  • sort alphabetical or according to contribute date

Improve the display of sponsors on mobile

That is just a small change, but I realized that the display of the sponsors logos on mobile could use some padding between them. I could change it myself, but I was not sure if it would be better to open an issue first (sorry guys, I'm still learning).

Partner logos need fixed sizes

After merging the last PR, the partner logos are "acting up". Need to have fixed size defined. I did not encounter this problem when testing the PR branch locally.

@phbrasiliano can you please fix, if you have time?
