foam.developer's Issues

Use already present RTK network instead of low frequency vhf

Hi, I just listened to the epicenter podcast with Ryan John King. I have been working GPS field for past decade and RTK(real time kinematic) for past 5 years. Have you guys considered using the already existing RTK networks? I would bet that RTK corrections could provide that unique key at any time that you are looking for. These networks are already built out, and additionally provide the advantage of giving cm accuracy. So three fold benefit.

  1. blockchain
  2. already built out
  3. high precision

I havent finished the podcast, so maybe im way off...

Any plan to supply Foam.Space data through Streamr vidt mdt or the graph

https://streamr.network
https://vidt-datalink.com/integrators
https://mdt.io/
https://thegraph.com/en/

I think all these projects along with the Internet Computer https://dfinity.org/

offer opportunities to expand and create sustainable symbiosis particularly if it data is easily shared to processing projects like https://sonm.com/ https://www.golem.network/ and https://iex.ec/

Cryptos face two hurdles for adoption
no code comunity and the traditional valley of death of startups https://www.jumpstartmag.com/the-startup-valley-of-death-and-how-to-avoid-it/

introducing a new product and putting it out their where someone can understand it use it or contribute to it.
I think you have a great product, I would hate to see you disappear, I think your product would be useful for consumers of Planetlabs data, and setting up a supply of dashcam footage for products like Google Earth for councils, monitoring roads maintenance and traffic, something companies like Affectiva and other self driving companies could use to improve self driving vehicles

bridging traditional startups and adding the dimension of block chain is a whole new level of complexity your challenge is to make it as useful and easy as possible for adoption, a market picks up stuff it needs quickly, unless it has to learn how to use it and trust it.

FOAM Location Scouting (Vancouver/B.C.)

Describe what your bounty is about.

FOAM is creating a proof of location protocol for Web3 and other applications. The FOAM Trust Zone Program is currently beta-testing radios for localization. This testing will generate data and lessons learned to improve the FOAM technical stack, ahead of future open releases of the FOAM network. FAQ: https://mirror.xyz/foamspace.eth/9QRjUNdAuw80x9CLvMs76hEp-LVpV92CXVyGmC0H4fU

We are looking for additional locations that can be used to host FOAM radios for testing for participant teams in near Vancouver / British Columbia Canada.

If you have access to a quality location that could host a FOAM radio for a period of 6 months or more, we would like to briefly meet with you to discuss and evaluate your location.

How to use FOAM in Sea and Air?

You talk a bit about how to establish location data with some Z-index information, but you don't talk exclusively about it. I'm also curious to see how you can obtain location data (once we have enough reference points) to track dynamic location data as you travel across the ocean, or are flying? How do you envision the hardware for those scenarios?

Spatial Index Beta - Beacon Deploy Issue

If no name is specified when deploying a beacon, the beacon is not created. No error message is given even though the transaction confirms and you can view it on Etherscan.

problem creating beacon - zero transaction value?

I have tried several times to create transaction, but it seems that the default transaction amount is 0ETH? Because of this I think that the beacon is not created.

I'm on the Rinkeby test network

The map doesn't move to location I'm searching for

I tried searching for San Francisco and results showed up, but the map didn't pan to San Francisco as I expected. Also the API was finicky. Sometimes the search worked and sometimes it will fail with no HTTP error code.

Prediction Market for Point of Interest Openings / Numerai ErasureBay Integration

As we move through these unprecedented times, we look forward to seeing which of our favourite businesses have reopened their doors and which have not. Currently, the consensus driven FOAM Map presents an opportunity for a community to verify where Points of Interests exist. This challenge goes deeper to verify another field of information—when the POI is open/closed.

When and/or whether specific points will open is ripe for predictions. We would like to see a map based prediction market for when POI’s will open if at all. This could be a FOAM Map plug-in to an existing prediction market protocol or could be an entirely new innovation.

An exciting integration can be done with Numerai and ErasureBay
https://erasurebay.org/

ErasureBay allows you to Request any information from anyone in the world. Destroy their stake if you don't get what you want.

For this bounty, building a map based interface that pulls FOAM Point of Interest data from on chain and then allows information about the status of the location to be sent to the ErasureBay network or any other kind of prediction market.

Submissions must demonstrate a working and high quality demo. Please communicate the status of your submission once work is approved to start.

What’s Open(ing)? — Color Coded FOAM Map to show Open/Closed Businesses and Hours

Covid-19 precautions have led to varying degrees of “lockdown” and restriction orders across the world. Different regions are subject to different restrictions at different times. Examples of varying global restrictions include: stay at home orders, shelter in place orders, shutdowns, curfews and quarantines. Additionally, some regions (such as in the US) have developed a numbered Tier system to further define closures and openings.

Recommendation:

We’d love to see a unique color coding scheme captured by the FOAM Map UI that represents which POI’s are open and closed. For example, Purple represents POI’s that are currently open and Red represents businesses that are closed until further notice and Pink represents businesses that are closed at the moment but will be open within the next 24 hours.

We would like to have a new information field that lists what the normal and “Covid Affected” business hours are. For POI’s in applicable regions, we would the addition of a field that lists what “Tier” the business will be permitted to open again.

We are open to your creativity and interpretation of what would make the best product based on crowdsourced information.

We understand you will not be able to rewrite the smart contracts that currently set the FOAM POI fields of interest, so we ask that you try taping into the FOAM API to gather the FOAM map info while adding these newly important information fields and color coding additions as an application layer over the protocol.

Submissions must demonstrate a working and high quality demo. Submissions must be received by May 27.
