Important

Explorama is currently in an alpha stage. There is currently a significant amount of bugs, performance issues and loose end due to the migration to electron as our primary plattform. We are working hard to fix these issues and are happy about any feedback you can give us.

If you want to contribute to the project, checkout the Contributing section.

Features

  • Intuitive Interface: No steep learning curve; get started in minutes.
  • Dynamic Visualizations: Create compelling visual stories with just a few clicks.
  • No Coding Required: Analyze and visualize data without writing a single line of code.
  • Detailed Feature List

Playground

For playing around with a temporary analysis use: Explorama Playground

Or just download a prebuild package from: Browser-build

Installation

We provide two different releases:

When you use the Browser-build, just unzip it and open the index.html file in your Browser (Chrome, Edge are supported)

explorama's Issues

Better Map

Look into performance improvements for the map plugin. The goal is to have a similar performance as mosaic.

Wordcloud stopping does not work

Notes should not be per default in the dropdown stopping (doesnt work). Dont show stopping & stemming. Other attributes work fine.

Protocol does not include "Close window"

Protocol does not include "Close window" - difficult to understand why the workspace is empty
(Open window is also not there, maybe connected with connect to search)

Steps:

  • Create a project
  • Open a search, select some data and visualise in windows
  • Close all windows
  • open protocol

Better Charts

Check out ECharts and test them compared to Chartjs.

Aggregations

Improve the indicator plugin to allow more complex aggregations, e.g. by introducing a VPL.

Sharing

Adds a sharing function that allows users to share their data and projects without a shared server.

Units

Allow the user to specify units for facts and allow operations based on the units, e.g. tranforming units into different ones.

Performance

Improve the performance, mainly import and read performance for the data.

Key not found in protocol

After updating the search (with connected map) in the protocol is a "key not found: :map-protocol-action-load-data"
image

Undo

Add a simple undo function for the workspace - it should work indenpent of the protocol.

Db encryption for Electron

Add encryption support for the database to the Electron version. There should be a configuration option, so that the use can decide whats gets encrypted.

Map filter not working

Filter deactivated in map, not possible to filter in maps. In other exploration tools filter works (always)

Notifications

More transparent error messages and notifications for the user.

Migration

Implement a migration strategy for the user data and events.

Coupled timelines groups are sometimes not aligned

Groups in the first window are not aligned with the groups in the second window
image

Steps:

  • Visualise Netflix in mosaic
  • Group by listed_in
  • Drag out "Drama" and "Kids TV"
  • Drag one on the other, couple by month

Report: Not possible to change the order of the boxes

Reports: it is not possible to change the order of the report rows, if one row type/window is added at the wrong place, everything has to be done again (delete and insert new). Possible solution: Arrows like in the presentation mode.
