In my setup (Alfred 2.2) the command ? doing initially did not show the Large Type Display. I had to make a slight change in the Script:
Delete control out of the keystroke combo l-key + command + control.

The following script is working flawlessly for me now:

It appears that if you install the doing gem on a non-system (but default via the shell) ruby, the workflow doesn't do anything.
