I think due to the simplicity of kiss build files you should consider a permissive license. This is obviously your choice at the end of the day. However even the FSF believes that permissive licenses should be used on small works. It would make it a lot easier for others to use these builds in their own repos :)

I'm not sure if I am missing a package that I need to install. I installed adwaita-icon-theme thinking that was the issue however it wasn't. Any idea?

I am now using wayland so I do not use libresprite anymore. And mimi I haven't used in a few so I do not have plans to maintain them. You are welcome to still use them obvisously just wanted to let you know I will no longer be maintaining them.

From my testing:

• babl requires gobject-introspection and vala. (gobject-introspection is required somewhere in GIMP's dependency chain, but it gets installed after babl, which causes babl's build to fail.)
• librsvg requires gdk-pixbuf to generate a GdkPixbuf-2.0.gir file, which it doesn't. (Might be an issue on my end)

gobject-introspection is missing
and whatever provides vapigen, i got stuck
