After merged pull request for adding ETC ticker functionality, the prices plunged for a while. Maybe it has nothing to do with this, anyway I reverted back main page as soon as possible to avoid the ETC ticker misunderstanding by traders.

What surprised me was the resistance of ETC token prices in face of the increased volatility in prices due to the probable ETC ticker misunderstanding.

Previously the mailing list was managed on wordpress.

It was mentioned that another service such as mailgun could be used.

Either is simple enough to integrate (mailgun is better), but someone needs to set this up.

Should be easier to edit than managing a bunch of components (/components/home/fork-timeline.js).

Try to replicate /conetents/press.yaml instead. Only potential tricky part is icon imports.

Eventually we may want to have the timeline scrolled to the end by default so it becomes more relevant to recurring visitors.

We need to make better use of social media to spread the word. I've added a Linkedin follow button to the footer area. It's missing other social media buttons.

I would like to add a page that lists all active ETC developers and contributors, with a short bio, and a list of projects they have initiated, maintain, or contribute to, both open source and commercial (there are currently three companies that I am aware of bootstrapping on ETC).

I will begin this task when I return from CppCon this Wednesday, the 21st.

The ETC ticker at the top of the page is not responsive design friendly. Removing it from the head of the page and incorporating it into the body somewhere (trading section perhaps?) or implementing flexbox would solve the problem.

At the moment, resizing the window to a smaller size or using mobile causes it to overlap the page title and looks sloppy.

Hackers have a great set of skills and are objective in pinpointing system vulnerabilities. So In my understanding hackers should be attracted to the organization even if for that to be effective we need to take actions consonant with the psychological understanding of a hacker`s mind. Community must feel embraced to help on that.

Should we offer bounties? Should we help making hackers famous? How do we evangelize them with our moral principles and our democratic sense of organization?

I think this wordpress site structure is good.

That being said, we'll have the opportunity to easily modify the structure or add additional information to the site during the migration. Are there any suggestions for modifying this or should we copy it exactly?

We have a community gulf to fill between East and West because of having entirely different websites, entirely different tools for communication and because of cultural differences.

So we fix that, by adding translations right here, to the EthereumClassic.org website.

The goal would be to have either a runtime toggle (ideal) or to generate the static HTML multiple times.

I want the ETC Consortium (@zoulaihui) and ETC Asia communities (@ChrisXK) to have the option of just mapping directly to EthereumClassic.org (with Chinese by default through their URL), or to maintain their own websites which refer back to this Global one.

This approach does not just give us a means of bringing China and the West closer, but also gives us a path for other language communities (German, Italian, Spanish, French) to do the same.

The desired workflow would be:

1. Contributor adds new article (in English or other language)
2. Translators or community managers for other languages are subscribed to this repository, and notice, and get a translation done and then gets committed here too.

Most of the time, the original articles are written first in English. If that happens, we would want that article to show up for people using other languages too - but it will be in English for them until a translated version is available.

For non-English original articles - ie. something written in Chinese about a meetup in Beijing, I am not sure that we would want that to be showing for everyone else. We should only have the drop-back to English. So if there is no "local language" version then drop back to English, and if there is no English version either then don't show it.

So I am a French person. Chinese article added. I do not see it.

So I am a French person with that same scenario, but for some reason the article gets translated directly to French, but not to English. In that case I see nothing, and then I see the French version.

So we are favoring English (because of its universality), and have English as a default, and only show localized or drop-back to English.

@dax-classix It doesn't look like any changes to index.html on master branch propagate to website. Could you please explain how we can edit the content of the website now?

Ethereum Classic should be renamed to Ethereum Original, in my opinion. The issue is that "classic" assumes an older state, which could be considered true in one dynamic of speech, but not in most. Ethereum "Classic" is still active and progressing forward.

Hi guys, I'm not sure who is the main maintainer of this, but under the instruction of bitnovosti I've pushed a new branch https://github.com/ethereumclassic/ethereumclassic.github.io/tree/dax-redesign.

A preview of the site is here https://dax-classix.github.io/etc-web/

The new branch is a refreshed design, as well as a blog section. It uses gatsby to generate static html, which can be copied into gh-pages. New blog posts can be added by simply adding a new markdown file in/pages/blog.

Open to thoughts and suggestions from here.

I appreciate efforts our org members and volunteers put into updating ethereumclassic.github.io with the latest news and developments. Please keep in mind though that the content of https://github.com/ethereumclassic/README should be kept in sync with changes on the website (at least until such time as a new website design is ready).
