Consider switching from LLVM to an alternative code emitter

During my tests, I noticed that LLVM is becoming slower and slower at emitting code with each new release, and, looking around on the internet, this seems to be also a common complain against it (for example, see here). To fix this, we will have to either replace it with an alternative x86-64 code emitter library, or write our own emitter backend ourselves.
