Impregnant humans can give birth to grangers in tight spaces where the grangers will get stuck inside the walls.

Scenario: Rotcannon_b11
Get a human behind the elevator shaft thing on the wall, it should be big enough for just a dretch or a human in terms of witdth. Get him impregnant, and spawn as a granger.

If a cuboid is able to be nicely thing and long (like ladders and slime) you can make them so long to the point that if you strike one end, you find that the swipe sound effects from the claw (not the hitsounds that was imported recently) becomes quite noticably dim. Turns out it spawns the sound from the center of the buildable.

Potential fix - Spawn sound from attacking player rather than buildable centerpoint

-After failing to give birth (i.e. human is wearing a battlesuit with enough hp to stay alive) the human will still have the egg icon.
-Human can no longer become pregnant after this happens.

If the overmind dies while building this message still appears.

This is just my speculations, but it's most likely related to what explodes AFTER the egg was killed.

Evidence: Works with the human structures too; if you leave a base unattended without a reactor for 90 seconds (default self-destruct time) they explode, right?

As for aliens, the reason why it happens the moment the egg is killed because it kills off the creep immediately for the other structures.

Hypothesis to be built upon

They are not revertable.
Also layouts too don't give cuboids.
And doesn't give credits.
