Huawei E3531 - not recognized as modem

I followed the same steps

  • installed a fresh Jessie Lite (I assume this is the same?)
  • added the file in /etc/usb_modeswitch.d
when I run the command dmesg|grep USB, I get

(I have the modem plugged in, a HDMI cable, ethernet cable, keyboard and the Huawei stick)

In this thread (http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/bb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1999)
they say you have to add the file to /usr/share/usb_modeswitch. (I will try this next)
