Missing name abbreviations in endnotes

There seem to be quite a few cases of missing name abbreviations in the endnotes. I found:

  • “edited by P. Chabaille”
  • “however R. Guiscard, by a device”
  • “Sonnet to Mr. H. Lawes”

and a bunch of others, by regex searching for \s[A-Z]\..

Various spelling / typography mistakes in the endnotes

Absolutely not comprehensive, but stumbled across in the review:

  • Note 94: Missing lang and abbr markup in “Some by the subjects in which they excelled, as M. Angelo delle battaglie, Agostino dellc perspettive.” (also a spelling mistake with “dellc”)
  • Note 606: a couple of mistakes in “and a great cncourager of merit, promised to do so, it he was such a person as he reported, and, in the mean tme, gave”
  • Note 722: “learned your A, B, C.” should be A.B.C. https://standardebooks.org/manual/1.5.0/single-page#8.10.9.4
  • Note 925: “where he sliould be deposed”
  • Note 1294: “I fear not kings menaces” presumably missing apostrophe

Review some uses of <em> in the endnotes

It’s always difficult, but I’d suggest that there are:

  • lang italics (e.g. <em>hospitium</em>, <em>ovile</em>, <em>ajuola</em>)
  • possible name semantics (e.g. <em>Homilies</em>)
  • q elements (e.g. I sung to God: <em>After Thee, O Lord)

Might find a few places where <dfn> could be used too, although I didn‘t come across anything obvious.
