Spelling

• There seems to be an instance where “renownéd” (with an acute instead of a grave accent) is used instead of “renownèd”—that looks like a printer’s typo to me.
• Should we modernize “wódka” to “vodka” and remove the semantics? It wouldn’t be pronounced exactly the same in Polish but it’s definitely the same word.

Semantics

• I think instead of marking possessive forms of Polish names with the pattern <span xml:lang="pl">...’s</span>, we should use <span xml:lang="pl">...</span>’s, because the ’s is specifically an English possessive form and treating the entire thing as a Polish name or word might mislead screen readers.
• You still have an italicized use of “réveille.”
• “Givoitos” needs semantics.
• I don’t think “brochures” needs an emphasis? That looks like italicization for an originally non-English word.
• The adjectival <i xml:lang="pl">ski</i> always changes to <i xml:lang="pl">ska</i> — should these receive z3998:suffix?
• Why were the italics removed from “Kahal”? It only appears in M-W unabridged.
• Similarly, I don’t think that the italics should have been removed from “jarmulka,” either. It’s not in Merriam-Webster and I don’t think it’s pronounced the same way as the English version, “yarmulke” (see Wiktionary).
• “aspersorium” is also a M-W unabridged word that got italics removed.
• You have an instance of <i xml:lang="pl">Jägers</i> that should be marked up as German.

Metadata

• I reuploaded the volume 1 scans to the Internet Archive. I would suggest switching the source to the new IA reupload (less likely to get lost and easier for proofreaders to search and browse). It might take a while to be processed but it should be ready soon.
