I have windows XP, and Chrome 21.0.1180.83 m and it doesn't work it shows a mic and a combo box but the combo box doesn't let me select google or anything and the mic just changes from red to grey on click but I speak every time and it does nothing

works on webpages for text field input but when clicked on toolbar (icon next to address bar) on the top right of chrome bubble with mic pops up, i click on it and it turns red but nothing after that. does not respond -turn blue, recognise speech, just sits there. does not freeze chrome or other functions as far as i know.

any resolution for similar situations?

A shortcut key, (For example F3) to auto activate search witout clicking the button would be awesome.

It would be nice to choose which mic to use. I have a feeling it's using my internal mic which is closed up and cannot be used instead of the external mic I have installed.

Form some reason when i click on the icon it appears a black square with down arrow and no other icon?

A feature that would allow the extension to be used to enter text via dictation. Transcription would be pasted wherever the cursor is placed immediately after it is processed. Perhaps a keyboard button pressed in conjunction with the click on the extension could be used to indicate if a transcription is requested, rather than a search.

ive only had the app a week and its great! but today the red mic stopped appearing when i clicked the blue mic, also the smaller mic has disappeared from my web pages. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app and chrome with no success.

Once I installed Lion OS X and added the Boom app from Mac App store I couldn't get Voice Search to work. I made sure sound input was set to internal microphone and the meter indicated the mic is working. I think the issue is incompatibility with Boom app

The search language depens on Chrome's language. It should be selected seperatly. For example, I use Chorme in English, but I may be able to set search language to Turkish.

not getting voice input option in key entry fields on any site.

As the title says, super extension voice search stopped working all of a sudden. Any ideas why?
Observations:
When I click the voice search icon (blue mic in toolbar). the pop up window flashes up but i's blank (no mic)
Same thing in the search field of all search engines; no mic on the right side, just blank as though no extension had ever been installed.
Mac microphone working; checked!
Was just beginning to have fun with voice search. Hope there is a fix.

Should I add this flag you mention for Windows? How can I do that in Mac?

What i find really annoying is, that i have to select the search engine, before i want to search. It should be possible to configure a default search engine, that one click on the microphone symbol is enough to start a search.

When used your script(Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --enable-speech-input) in the Script Editor this comes up:
SYNTAX ERROR
A unknown token can’t go after this identifier.
and ( Google\ ) is highlighted. When I remove Google\ from the script another "SYNTAX..." comes up with the ( / ) highlighted and so on until the whole script is removed.
Definitely something`s wrong here.

Is there any way to use this extension to search text inside a page like using ctrl+F optin?

I would like to know if you guys are aware that everytime there is a pre-entered text in a box in grey, like "enter your name" or "please type a movie title" that text is then used after we speak. So for exemple:

• pre-entered text "type your name"
• mic button click
• I say "John"
• box shows: "type your nameJohn"
  I hope you understand what I mean.

This extension is awesome but become unsable in any of these box's type.

For example I tried "Centrelink" - a government agency here.

Each time I got "Send to link" or "Send a link" EVEN when saying each half on its own!

"Centre" = "Send a"/"Send to" ?!

Create an additional function to copy the Speech-to-Text result in the computer's clipboard to be pasted later by the user.

When you click on the button to search, the microphone icon pops up, along with the drop-down menu of search engines. When the microphone is clicked, nothing happens (it does NOT turn blue). When you click it 3 times repeatedly, it lights up for a short second, and then disappears.

I am still able to use it all text fields, though.

This is the tracker issue for everything involving the catincan campaign.

4. На русском не понимает, только на английском!

I have edited my chrome shortcut to include the --enable-speech-input flag, but this extension still doesn't work. I'm using the beta channel of chrome (http://www.google.com/landing/chrome/beta/ )

In fairness, I also tried this speech-input demo ( http://nooshu.com/explore/santa-speech-api/ ) and that didn't work either, so the problem may not just be with the extension.

The microphone icons that appear in text boxes do work, but the main icon in the extensions area does not do anything except turn red when I click on it.

Chrome crashes while trying to open github.com with this extension enabled. It shows page for a short time and then tab crashes.

Hi! I'm trying to use the extension in Linux. The problem is that I have an advanced external USB card with no software mixer support (al the mix controls are in the own card). Because of this Alsa mixer, kmix (yes, I work with KDE), etc doesn't see any device. I think the plugin should allo to select the alsa device (hw0,0 or hw0,1 or hw1,0 etc) so users with no software mixer can work with the extension too :-).

Several websites with small (1-2- character) text fields display microphone icons in every one, obscuring the text input and bringing up Voice when you click anywhere in the field.

An option to restrict the functionality to the search bar, or at least disable it for specific websites, would be helpful.

How do u create that script for enabling the voice icon in Mac OS 10.6?

Would there be some way to implement a keyboard command so the microphone could be activated without having to click on the mic icon everytime? This would possibly help some people out who use keyboard commands exclusively.

Talk to type has issues with Voice-search by google... Once "talk to type" is installed its microphone and function continue to work even after you delete the app and extension. If an any one knows how to completely get rid of "talk to type" please let me know. thanks

This extension works perfectly on my other PC with Vista, but on my main one with 7 it doesn't. Mic is OK, works in all the other apps, but in Chrome I can hear the mic sound, but Voice search bar never turns blue, Can anyone please help?

Sometimes the microphone icon does not appear in search boxes (such as google) and even when you left click the microphone icon to start searching from scratch. I have ended the process and restarted the process (via the google chrome task manager) and that didnt work. that got annoying so i looked up this issue on the extention page and it said that i might have to add a string to the end of the file location of the shortcut and that got it working but when the browser restarts itself (like after you try to install a third party plugin or a update) it doesnt work... can you please work on a fix that will automatically allow the string that needs to be added onto the end of the file location in the browsers programing itself so it automatically starts working?
