sirenrpg's Issues

Wisdom Seems too Powerful

Problem: The wisdom trait (Wis) occurs in far too many skills, making it possible to make a powerful character by maxing out the Wis trait.

Cause: This is partly attributed to the fact that wisdom represents situational awareness and common sense, which is applicable in many situations.

Solution: Relabel some of the skills to use something other than Wis, ideas are encouraged!

Random character generation seems unbalanced

Generating a character stats based on rolling 2d6, and then subtracting the lowest die isn't terribly balanced, as it heavily favours 6s over any of the other results.

Rolling 3d6 and subtracting the highest and lowest value favours the middle values (3 and 4) too much, causing a build to potentially get too weak.

A new system should likely be put in place to mitigate this.

Combat System Isn't All That Fun

Problem

The combat system, as it currently stands, is based on the one found in GURPS.
It runs in 3 stages: Roll attack, Roll defence, Roll damage.

The issue is that more often than not the combat seems to feel a lot like Rockem Sockem Robots, in that it's very mechanical, and not very engaging for the players.

Solution

Find a better more engaging combat system.

Either by taking one already existing in a different RPG, and modifying it to work with D6s, or inventing a brand new one from scratch.

Skills

Right now skills can at the max be 12 with out the prof bonus, and 15 with prof bonus. I think of the possibility to be even better at a skill, than a prof bonus of 3. Can I add two prof bonus' on each other, or could the prof bonus increase.

Another thought, in an older version a character could be untrained, i liked that thought, could an untrained character have a penalty of -3, a trained character a 0 penalty, and a specialist a +3 prof bonus.
