obsidian-day-planner-og's Issues

Tasks / dataview support✨

I would very much like a dialog inside Day planner that allows to set up queries for Tasks and, if possible, also dataview.

The way I imagine this function is pretty straightforward:

  1. I can define a time window that has a name, for example 6:30-7:15 workout
  2. underneath this created time window, I can pick what tasks are to be filtered for it
  3. the time window would then display the queried tasks in day planner timeline
  4. the queried tasks can be ticked off directly inside day planner
  5. time windows would also have a button to color them so I can easily see what windows I am in currently

This would make Day planner a complete timeblocking solution. Which would be AWESOME!!!

🐛 Nested task support or not?

Describe the bug
The nested task does not shown on the timeline view.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. create a task as 19:40 Dinner routine
  2. create a nested task under as 19: 45 flexibility exercise

Expected behavior
In the time block, the task 19: 45 flexibility exercise would display inside the time block of 19:40 Dinner routine.

Additional context
The expected behaviour is based on your description: "Nested checklist items or bullets are now also supported to capture sub-tasks of a timed task."

Obsidian plugin review

✨ Chronological order

I prefer to keep my day plan by categories. This means that the time chronology is split between multiple categories. This messes with the timeline view:

🐛 "BREAK task label" breaks when trying to enter char '*' into textbox

Describe the bug
In the plugin settings, if you write a symbol like * or \ in the END Task label, it will break the plugin.
This does not happen in other textboxes.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'settings'
  2. Click on 'BREAK task label textbox'
  3. Write 'BREAK' or '(Break)'
  4. See error

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 11 x86

Planner Heading Option✨

The original version had an option to set the planner heading. So you had the possibility to set a different heading than "Day Planner" to mark the beginning of the Day Planner. It would be really nice if that feature would be reintroduced in the og version.

Allow transparency for day planner blocks ✨

I have tried several themes that support transparency, but in all of them, the solid color of the bars conflicts with the aftermentioned aspect. Many addons seamlessly integrate with the transparency feature.

Is there a way to enhance the compatibility of the addon with the Translucent window setting in Obsidian's appearance options? An (optional) integration with the Translucent feature would greatly improve day planner's UX.

✨ Picking an "editor"

The problem:
If Day Planner is active on several devices and "mark completed tasks" is enabled, there will be a race over which device should mark tasks complete.

Can we choose a single device to make those updates?

Rendering the timeline view and showing status bar indicators are read-only activities. Any device should be able to render those (and push alerts) without conflict.

  • Does a device have an identifier if sync is not used (general setting? can't remember)
  • There are new (perhaps not fully baked) ways to get notified when plugin config has changed.
  • Use a command, "I'm the editor?"
  • What is the default?

Link to static file✨

Hi there,

it's GREAT to see this plugin being picked up close to it's original concept.

What I would love is another planner mode:

Static File would just link to a static file without generating any dailies or relying on this to be done by external plugin.

Why do I want this?

I worked with dailies but found that it cluttered my workspace quite a lot. Also, I had difficulties finding stuff on the occasions that I wanted to go back to some note without rememberingthea specific date.

What I use is something different now:

  1. I have various notes where I put tasks depending on area.
  2. I created a document sitting in sidebar that displays part of these notes depending on due or started date as well as tags.
  3. for displaying them, I use callouts that form a kind of time blocking system.

I always wished for a plugin to do exactly that. Day planner is the only one coming close.

Is there any chance to make this plugin link to a static file?
I would be VERY grateful indeed!
