Abstractions

This module is designed to be a generally useful ActivityPub library in Python. It targets three different levels of use:

  • ActivityPub object API
  • ActivityPub database API
  • Webserver API

These levels can be used independently, or together. They can best be used together using a Manager:

>>> from activitypub.manager import Manager
>>> from activitypub.database import ListDatabase
>>> db = ListDatabase()
>>> manager = Manager(database=db)
>>> p = manager.Person(id="alyssa")
>>> p.to_dict()
{'@context': 'https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams',
 'endpoints': {},
 'followers': 'https://example.com/alyssa/followers',
 'following': 'https://example.com/alyssa/following',
 'id': 'https://example.com/alyssa',
 'inbox': 'https://example.com/alyssa/inbox',
 'liked': 'https://example.com/alyssa/liked',
 'likes': 'https://example.com/alyssa/likes',
 'outbox': 'https://example.com/alyssa/outbox',
 'type': 'Person',
 'url': 'https://example.com/alyssa'}
>>> db.actors.insert_one(p.to_dict())
>>> db.actors.find_one({"id": 'https://example.com/alyssa'})
{'@context': 'https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams',
 'endpoints': {},
 'followers': 'https://example.com/alyssa/followers',
 'following': 'https://example.com/alyssa/following',
 'id': 'https://example.com/alyssa',
 'inbox': 'https://example.com/alyssa/inbox',
 'liked': 'https://example.com/alyssa/liked',
 'likes': 'https://example.com/alyssa/likes',
 'outbox': 'https://example.com/alyssa/outbox',
 'type': 'Person',
 'url': 'https://example.com/alyssa',
 '_id': ObjectId('5b579aee1342a3230c18fbf7')}

activitypub supports the following databases:

  • MongoDB

activitypub's Issues

Support for Django/SQLite3

A suggestion. I am already working on such an implementation, however I still think submitting an issue report is best practice

Dependencies of the blog app example

Thank you very much to made this framework.

The blog app example has at least the following python modules dependencies:

  • libsass
  • flask-wtf

For Arch Linux users:

I made an AUR python-activitypub package with dependencies db dependencies, I don't know if these two modules are dependencies for this activitypub module or only for the example blog app.

#litepub

Litepub manifesto:
https://pleroma.site/notice/2300746
As for me, interesting idea, especially for light-weight nodes.
So questions are:
Does it make sense? Shall it be supported by this package? Is there a need, that package could be a router between forks (provide a posibility to interact both with mastodon and pleroma)

Link to the documentation

I'm looking around but I can't find a link to the documentation anywhere. Could someone point me to it and possibly publish it in the README?
