orcabot's Issues

lojban: no way to select one from multiple results

Hi,

Since the mysterious disappearance of valsi and gerna, I've been using (and appreciating) zmiku, #lojban's incarnation of orcabot. This is my only real complaint. I'm not sure who runs zmiku, so let me know if this isn't the right place.

When using the valsi command of the lojban module, sometimes there is more than one result, but orcabot only shows the list of results, not the definition as it does when there is only one result. This is fine for English-to-Lojban, but for Lojban-to-English lookup, it can be frustrating:

durka42: .valsi bei
zmiku: 2 results for bei: bevri, bei

If I want the definition of bevri, I can do ".valsi bevri". But the definition of bei is inaccessible (unless I missed something).

I can think of several ways to fix this:

  • some kind of "memory" to enable the following interaction:

durka42: .valsi bei
zmiku: 2 results for bei: bevri, bei
durka42: .2
zmiku: bei = ...

I'm not sure if orcabot currently has any concept of memory -- if not this is probably more trouble than it's worth.

  • a --verbatim (or something shorter, like --1) switch for the valsi command, which means "search for exactly this word, and return only the first result if there is somehow still more than one":

durka42: .valsi --1 bei
zmiku: bei = ...

Looking at the structure of lojban.lisp, this seems like an easier option.

Would you entertain a pull request related to this issue?
