Idea: Implement a worker queue to process the maps

I have added some code to print the duration of this task in 38018d9, so I can better evaluate how to notify the user.

as there were no more errors since the longer timeout was put in, I think it would be good enough to just change the title of the html page once the task has finished

Maybe implement Notification?

I implemented the web notifications feature.
Before the last step you can check a checkbox, the browser will ask for permissions and when the processing is finished the notification will be displayed.
If the browser doesn't support web notifications, there is no checkbox.
As these notifications are still experimental technology, there does not seem to be a way to stop them from automatically closing after a few seconds (at least in Firefox).

How about using alert() when Notification is not supported?
