divvun-keyboard's Issues

Decide what language layouts to include, with or w/o spellers

The following layouts are included in the existing version, with spellers:

  • sma
  • sme
  • smj (NO and SE)
  • smn
  • sms

The following majority language layouts are also included, for historical reasons (no spellers at present):

  • nob (or is it nno, or nor?)
  • swe
  • fin

No more majority language layouts will be added, the three we have will be kept because we know there are users relying on them.

Scheduled for inclusion in the next release are:

  • myv - no speller
  • mdf - no speller

Other possible candidates are:

  • crk - speller? After discussions with Antti: No. We'll wait, and test more, both on Android and iOS. Requires that we get the Divvun Dev app into beta shape so that testers can install it.

Other suggestions? Basic criterias for inclusion:

  • community contact & interest - there must be users!
  • a tested and approved layout

Inserting speller suggestion should add space

This affects both Android and iOS (I believe - no running Android device at hand right now).

The present behavior is frustrating in 98+ % of cases, and should thus be turned off. If time is not prohibitive, this can also be made configurable pr language.

Feedback telling users that input is correct?

The interaction between the keyboard and the spellers in the mobile keyboard is not always clear, especially since the speller is always giving suggestions. And because writers of indigenous languages often are unsure of the correct spelling, it would be useful to give feedback to the users that what they have written as a word so far is a correct word (as compared to an incomplete or incorrect word).

Exactly how this should be best done is not clear to me, but as it is now, we notice that people are often confused: «I think this is correct, but still the speller suggests other words?»

sjd keyboard crashing frequently

When using a Huawei P Smart, FIG-LX1, running Android 9, the sjd keyboard crashes all the time, like at least once pr word being written. The phone has 3 GB RAM. EMUI version 9.1.0.

Divvun Keyboard 3.1.7, version code 150919183.

The keyboard app also crashes with the following steps:

  • open the app
  • tap "About"
  • tap the back arrow in the About screen in the app (upper left corner)
  • Boom!

This is consistent and repeatable.
