A tool to apply accents automatically can speed up the work, but must be used
with care. An accent can change the meaning of a word. For example, óccido - I
go down, I die; occído - I kill, I knock down. An accent can also be the
difference between the present tense (pérvenit) and the perfect tense
(pervénit) of the same verb.
Either the results need to be verified or (probably more difficult) the list
needs to be purged of ambiguous forms.

Yep. Not to mention mária / María .
Careful verification _and_ purging is the way to go. The automated tool
screams when its sees a conflict, so if there's an unpurged ambiguity it has a
chance of screaming when the other form is noticed.
The problem is that this project seems to have most of the web's accented
liturgical Latin already. So "slurp a bit liturgical Latin text from
somewhere" isn't as easy as it sounds...
