Selecting Nextcloud or Anemo as the Image/Log folder currently has no effect. It would be nice to have full support for SAF document providers since it would give the app much more versatility: it would allow the app to seamless integrate with a cloud or encryption solution.
It would be a cool feature, probably not so hard to change the of a week, right now the week on the calendarpage starts with sunday, but in most european countrys the week starts with monday. This setting probably adds some more confience.
Very cool app, good job as right now
Ability to put the daily reminder not on a fixed hour but rather on a random hour or timeframe during the day, as in proprietary app BeReal
It tracks your mood overtime and gives insights as to when you feel the happiest / sad etc.
Feature request: opt-in option for sending a reminder notification at random times each day

Currently only log entries (excluding images) can be imported and exported from the app. Images need this same option. It is likely best to keep the image and log options separate given that the user can set separate image and log folders.
In addition to texting, there's a microphone button next to it

Currently the app is themed using the system color. Adding the option to use a custom color would be nice
Cool app :)
Hi, I find this application very interesting. I wonder how you would like Daily You to be used. I can see that it's inspired by OneShot, but I personally see much more potential in making it more of a memory-like app, instead of just a single overall picture of a day. I mean a way to link multiple pictures to a day, which would be useful for capturing memories. Let's say you had a cool day at an interesting place where you took some cool pictures that are so good you can't pick just one. I think it's a must-have if you consider the app to be a daily memory keeper.
Maybe you can add a timestamp when the entry was created or/and last edited
Hello,
Started using this app today and I really like it. I have two suggestions, could it be added that after clicking Log Today to use phones camera to take picture instead of opening gallery and choosing already taken picture(there is camera icon but when I click it nothing happens, only when I click gallery icon it shows pictures from gallery).
Also could it be added that instead of previous day,a week ago or something similar it shows pictures description (for example today I took photo of basketball and wrote basketball in description, could it be added that below picture it shows basketball and not previous)?
Hope you understand what I am trying to say and suggest.
Also again really like the app even after using it only one day and thank you for making the app.
Can you add the pure black dark mode which is very useful.

I have a lot of days there. I wouldn't want to just archive them after moving to your app
The app should provide a json export option for those that don't know or want to mess with SQL
Daily You should have optional notification support. The notifications will act as reminders to log the current day. You will be able to set the reminder time or have it be random.
Maybe change the way you work with strings, so that you have a strings.xml or something like this. This makes everything more organized and you could easily translate everything to make the app more user friendly.
I would do a Pull request, but I am not familiar with dart
I could help you with the german translation.
On linux, color emojis are not being rendered
NB: I think it is an issue linked to flutter itself: Issue on flutter repo
Is there a workaround? Like a custom color emoji font or something?
When switching to another screen (Menu > Calendar > Gallery), there is a small blue square in the center of the screen for about ~50 ms.
Additionally, there is a ~50ms rendering delay on the calendar screen, where before the mood icons appear, there are "+" icons in their place. Delayed loading of mood icons causes a little flicker in the animation, and it looks a little bad.
Now there is a way to add an entry without selecting an emoji, but this way I can see some โง icon now in the place where the mood emoji is displayed. I would like to not indicate my actual mood for some days, but also not have an indicator for no icon. Also, if you add some advanced filtering to the search bar in the future, I'd like to see it as an additional option (to filter by mood emoji) called "no mood".
I don't want to give the "all files" permission to Daily You.
This is dangerous permission.
Android 13 allows the media files permission. Ask for this one.
Issues:
Device info: Android 8
App Version: 1.7.0 (Downloaded using droid-ify)
The app does not alert the media store that it is creating images
I'm not sure if it's a problem with the system camera or this app, but the confirm button is under the virtual back/home/all apps buttons, I can click it, but it's not visible, like it's in a semi-fullscreen, so it's expecting that that space is usable, while instead it's drawn over by the system buttons.
It's the only app that does this, that's why I'm asking here.
I just added entries and set them to be exactly two and three years ago, and was expecting them to show up in the main screen list, but all I can see is a "one year ago" entry. I think it would be great to have a nice Snapchat Memories-like experience with yearly reminders for specific days. So if something happened exactly two, four, or seven years ago, you'd be reminded of it on the home screen.
It would be fun to be able to customize the mood emojis
The gallery page should list the total number of entries, this number should filter down to match search results.
Thanks a lot for this nice application :)
After a fresh installation I've entered some logs. Then I changed the storage paths in the setting and all previously existent logs were gone in the app.
I haven't looked up in the source code yet why this happened, maybe one should just copy and paste the db and images from one storage path to another when the user changes it in the settings.
You can create a duplicate entry by waiting for a notification to appear, opening the app (without clicking the notification), making today's entry, closing the app, then hitting the notification to log today. The notification will still take you to the entry creation page despite an entry already existing for that day.
This could be fixed by not opening the entry creation page from the notification if an entry already exists, and/or dismissing the notification whenever the app is opened.
Hi there!!!
You mention that Daily You is inspired by OneShot, however I would like to know the differences between them!!!
Also, I think that info should be available in the landing page!!!!
(for me, the big difference is that Daily You is compatible with my phone, where OneShot isn't!!!)
Hi,
I would like to check if the app is capable of exporting and importing. This is to facilitate when the user changes to a new phone and needs the capability to import so as to continue the diary.
Can I confirm if the app as of right now, is capable of exporting and importing by copying the database and image folders to another phone and retains all data?
Thank you
As the settings grow the settings page needs a rework more and more...
I think it'd be a nice touch to add titles to logs. It would provide a idea of the log to the user in a glance.
In the gallery screen, the title could be displayed above the image or on a line above or below the date.
Right how the home screen features a variety of flashbacks in the form of specific days. It would be nice to have auto-generated memory recaps that are collections of days and/or stats.
There could also be a larger yearly recap similar to the Spotify recap. Otherwise, the recap could also change daily as it does now. Making some recaps only update after a set amount of time may make them more rewarding to view.
The current flashbacks would be trimmed down and new sections would be added (i.e. last week, last month, last year). Each section would have a collage of days (a happy highlight, a sad moment, etc.) the section could also have rudimentary stats (mood, engagement, etc.). These sections would update periodically.
Would be great to have an online system we could use to translate such a nice app... ๐
Every time my phone reboots (updates or otherwise), I have to open the app again to start receiving notifications. On multiple occasions, this has caused me to miss multiple days before I remember the app exists.
Is there some way to have to background reminder notification service start on boot?
I am running a Pixel 6 Pro on Graphene OS. This issue is present on Android 13 and 14.
It would be nice to filter the gallery by mood
It's probably too complicated, but it would be really nice
I have used Daylio for about 2 years at this point, and this app looks very good to me. I would like to switch to this app, but I would want to import from Daylio. I have zero clue how possible this is to do, but yeah.
Thanks for making an awesome foss app!
Not really something very important, but when you view a picture of a day you can zoom in and out with so cap. If this is intended, everything is fine
When you open the app, you are prompted to give a pin number / passwords that you have configured within the app.
I just found that adding new entries with images increases the app's data and cache size, but deleting entries doesn't reduce the space used by the app.
Just a question, in the changelog stands that in the sharing sheet is also the mood but can you say me how, I can't find it when sharing it over Signal.
Otherwise very good implementation as well as this update from 1.7.1 to 1.8
This is a blanket ticket to cover the need to rethink and refactor the home page to offer more meaningful and interesting content;
I know this doesnt seem align to the principle "because days matter to you" But i feel like there's a situation where a bunch of interesting things happen in that one single day and for now it seems very limiting to be able to just adding a single entry for that day only.
And if we could have multiple entries and automatically having folders /category created with titles + dates when we have something to tell, that'd be really nice.
Giving the ability to add / remove entries from the list using checkbox as an example when you hold it.
Actually, through this, you could also select multiple Notes and put them on a folder (with the date from that day)
