NXLoader

My first Android app: Launch Fusée Gelée payloads from stock Android

Heavily based on Fusée Gelée and ShofEL2. fusee.bin is bundled as a default payload

Note: Any proprietary payloads are neither tested nor supported by this software.

Does it work on your device? Report here

This app is currently in "Alpha" state, it's my first Android app and there is some rather disgusting code (Potentially blocking tasks on the UI thread 🤢). This will be improved soon™.

HOWTO:

  • Launch the app.
  • (Optional) go to the Config tab, and select a custom payload file.
  • Plug in your Switch. (On my Nexus 5, I use a micro USB OTG cable, and an A-to-C cable)
  • Put it into RCM mode. (Note: your switch will power on by itself when plugged in, be sure to hold VOL+).
  • Grant permission to the app to access the USB device.
  • Enjoy!

Note: The app does not need to be running in order to launch the payload. The phone can even be locked!

FAQ:

  • Why use this over a web-based launcher?: No internet required, and can auto-launch even if your phone is locked. Plug and play!
  • Can it load Linux?: soon™
  • Will it brick my phone/switch?: Hopefully not, but I an certainly not responsible if it does!
  • Does it need root?: Nope!

TODO:

  • Refactor the code so it's less hacky
  • Improve UI/UX
  • Implement loader for fail0verflow's Linux

For anyone who wants to look at the exploit source, the magic happens here.

nxloader's Issues

NXLoader SUMBITURB failed :(

Like the title says, I can't seem to complete the run because of this weird error, and it's driving me nuts. I even used different cords, and 2 different phones. Does anyone have any idea what this error might consist of?

Booting Linux

This is a discussion about what's needed to boot Linux from NXLoader, taking TegraRcmSmash as an example.

  • Be able to change or remove the relocator payload (no relocator is needed to boot Linux) (line 761)
  • Be able to send "sections" through RCM (coreboot.rom file) (lines 896 to 1042)

There is no need to use imx_usb with my method of booting Linux, so I suggest we use this one and not bother with imx.

The only files needed will be cbfs.bin and coreboot.rom. As they will probably not be updated (unless we make a change in u-boot), I suggest we embed them in the app to have a one-click Linux boot.

Here are the TegraRcmSmash logs for booting Linux :

Win32 error 31 during post-smash read op

Was working previously now has stopped.

Hi I got this working last week using an rcm jig as well as my Android phone to send the payload. I was using originally my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, everything was working fine. I've come to use it today and it's no longer working with me at all I'm getting an error everytime I try and send a payload. My phone either starts charging or the switch just starts charging. So I tried holding the volume button up as I plugged in the phone and was using NXLoader. I then decided to try and other phone which was a Samsung S7 edge. It still doesn't work from neither phone but it was working previously. I have included a screenshot below of what I am encountering if anybody could help me I would be really appreciative.

Error android Oreo Moto z play

Update my mobile from nougat to oreo and the application stopped working.
I already tried it in a thousand ways and nothing

Failed to read device ID

As the title reads, I'm having issues reading the device ID.
Is this because my switch is patched? My serial number: XKJ2000237xxxx

Thanks in advance,
Viktor

Device Compatiblity

Does it work on your device? Let other users know here.

If it doesn't work, please be as specific as possible about your device and ROM, and what logs are shown in the app.

Verizon Moto z2 Force

When I open the app, it does not request app permissions at all, I cleared cache, data, reinstalled, manually configured usb auth, and have debug setting enabled. Using a c-c cable

Storage permission issue

When choosing a payload if the file manager gives the file in a format like storage/emulated/0/file (example: es file explorer) the app will crash because it lacks the storage permission.

Sending payload failed at offset 61440

Hey!

I cant send any payloads to my switch. It just always says: Sending payload failed at offset 61440.
Before you ask yes i did check my cable and my usb otg adapter, i tested it by sending a payload from my pc's usb c port with the same otg adapter and cable attached as on my phone.

My phone is a samsung galaxy S8 and i am using the standard cable and otg adapter that came with the phone. My android version is android 8.0.
