Should it be working for HttpClient?
I'm always getting the requests, shouldn't been getting from cache instead my external api?

angular: 5.2.0
ng-http-cache: 1.2.0
breaks angular's cold observable logic
by default angular's Http doesn't sends the request until a subscription happens (cold observable). reading your code it seems you start the request immediately.
use rather the new Observable(subrciber => {}) construct.
