Do I need to downgrade protobuf library?
My current protobuf version is
$ protoc --version
libprotoc 3.3.2

You should use the one from the API like it is said in the readme:
https://github.com/davechurchill/commandcenter#developer-install--compile-instructions-linux-and-os-x
Actually I don't know which version of protobuf the API uses. They have submodule for it in the sources.
