It's not probably such a big issue, but you declared many variables as fields, that are used just once.

e.g.
class SecureChannelApplet
private KeyPair kpU;

private ECPublicKey pubKeyU;

• Investigate DH/ECDH

Try to remove unused imports and unused declarations in code.

There are at least 3 places in code, where you don't handle the exceptions.

try{
sharedSecret = negotiateSecret(userPin);
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println(e);
}

You just print the exception to output, but the program fcontinues and then falls on other exceptions.
