xkcd is distributed under a CC-BY-SA 2.5 license. Ensure that the license text is available somewhere (maybe a hidden file?) and that there's some way to access the credits.

Add an alt-text box to the rendered images.

For example, comic 961 fails to decode correctly.

Currently we just use sans-serif and hope for the best. That's probably good enough for 99% of cases, but is there any way to bundle a font statically and use that?

Add a way to refresh the maximum comic

For example, xkcd 98 is a greyscale JPEG, which fails to decode.

Add a way to access the latest comic.

Maybe this should take the form of a symlink that points to the current one? Or just a separate file that's backed by the same data?
