installation error "clone of '[email protected]:da-x/alacritty.git' into submodule path 'alacritty' failed"

When I use the clone command as described on the Readme, i get the following error
fatal: clone of '[email protected]:da-x/alacritty.git' into submodule path 'alacritty' failed

Any idea why it happens? I usually don't have issues cloning repositories

Here is the complete console output

Any interest in dusting this off?

I was wondering if you had any interest in dusting this off? I am needing different size fonts in different tmux windows (and possibly panes), and this seems like the only solution out there? Unfortunately the repo has suffered some bit-rot and I can't get it to build.

Installation instructions?

Would it be possible to add installation instructions?

No configure in tmux dir

cd tmux
./configure

~/source/alacritmux/tmux # ./configure
