android_packages_apps_settings's Issues

Error while copiling the ROM

Today I tried to compile the crDroid ROM for my i9300 phone but I had this error:
ERROR: /home/gianogli/android/crdroid/packages/apps/Settings/src/com/android/settings/SettingsActivity.java:140: The import com.crdroid.settings.crDroidSettingsLayout cannot be resolved
ERROR: /home/gianogli/android/crdroid/packages/apps/Settings/src/com/android/settings/SettingsActivity.java:302: crDroidSettingsLayout cannot be resolved to a type
I don't know if this error could be related to a my fault or to the commit "Add pager sliding tab strip for crDroid Settings [2/2] ".
What do you think? What do you suggest?
I've compiled the ROM a lot of times but this is the first error that I don't understand... :-(
Thanks...

[Enhancement] Request for Adding cm_strings.xml in Various Languages

I've noticed that crDroid already has localization for strings.xml, which is great. However, it seems like the cm_strings.xml file currently lacks such localization. You can find this file here: cm_strings.xml.

I'm suggesting that we expand our localization efforts to include cm_strings.xml for various languages. This addition would enhance the user experience for those who prefer using the ROM in their native language and could lead to wider adoption of crDroid.

I am eager to discuss this further and offer my contribution in any way needed.

[enhancement] Ability to disable user apps

Hi

Years ago we modified the settings.apk smali code to enable ability to disable user apps as well as pre-installed system apps.

Example for CyanogenMod
https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=540887&st=1540#entry62172462

This will be useful for those cases when there is a set of apps that you use not so often and do not want them to run in backround. And keep some order in the system.
Also, with this option, there will be no need for apps with root access to disable user applications, or there will be no need for adb and another device for those cases where user prefer not to use root access.

Example:
I live in a country where the government can restrict access to the Internet at any time and we have enough tools to adjust to such situations, but I definitely do not want such tools to work in the background all the time. Other side it is problematic sometimes so save apk files and setup each app from the beggining or restoring from backup its settings.
So I just want those apps and it's settings to be customized and ready for the moment.

P.S.
Well, it's just logical to see such option in crdroid

Thank for your attention

"Back gesture haptic" not workink on latest builds

Hello everyone and sorry for my bad english

I use poco x3 nfc
https://github.com/crdroidandroid/android_device_xiaomi_surya

On the latest build, the option "Back gesture haptic" stopped working for me.
The same problem was confirmed by another user on 4pda community.

"Settings => System => Gestures => System navigation => Gesture navigation => Gesture settings (gear) => Back gesture haptic"

It's a minor issue, of course, but having haptics improves the user experience so much that when it works it's taken for granted, and when it doesn't work, you immediately notice it.

P.S.
I'm not sure if this is a general crDroid problem or a device specific one.

apps from the second user appearing on the first user

I've already tested it on crdroid builds on A11, 12.1, 13, and whenever I use multiuser on Android, the applications installed from my second user appear in the list of applications from my first user, with the message "not installed for this user" and also some apps within the app detail the option "uninstall for all users" this is a bad behavior in terms of privacy, especially in authoritarian countries, which in my use, I use the second user to hide my applications from the first, this behavior is fixed and not It is present in most ROMs, especially from A13 onwards, could you fix it in a future release? thanks
