menubarhider's Issues

Menu Bar won't hide after fullscreen

After running e.g. a fullscreen flash video, the plugin needs to re-set SystemUIMode. Maybe there is a notification to listen to when an application changes the SystemUIMode.

Specific Applications

Can this target specific applications? For example, if I want the auto-hide only when Finder is the active application. Moving to Mavericks soon and looking for something to replace MagicMenu. Thanks!

OS X Yosemite Compatibility

MenuBarHider appears to be breaking in Yosemite. I have the MenuBarHider set to hide the menubar whenever Finder is active. This seems to break Finder after the update causing it to be unresponsive. I managed to "fix" Finder by removing the MenuBarHider.bundle from ~/Libary/Application\ Support/SIML/Plugins. Any news on when this awesome plugin will be compatible with Yosemite? Thanks!

Application running and displaying @ Desktop level disappears when switching to certain apps

Hi,

I use BackgroundConsole.app, a free system log utility that displays on the Desktop (below icons like MkConsole).

When switching to and from the Finder, it periodically disappears and will reappear when a different window comes back to being active/front.

I assume that some of the Carbon stuff required to hide the MenuBar is causing this and this page on CocoaDev seems to reference parts of it:

http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?DontExposeMe

Any chance of a way to not hide the app? From what I understand about how you're getting around hiding the MenuBar and the way CG sets the window layers, I'm not sure if it would be possible.

Thanks

eclipse cocoa compatibility

The MenuBarHider SIMBL plugin seems to crash eclipse-SDK-3.6.1-macosx-cocoa-x86_64 and also the 32-bit version of it. Moving the plugin from the Library solves the problem with eclipse. Also when starting eclipse in -debug mode, the last entry is about loading MenuBarHider or something similar...

But, as MenuBarHider is the neatest app for hiding the menu bar that I know of, I am interested in any workarounds or improvements that could be done, e.g. I would be satisfied, if the plugin works with a kind of "whitelist" of applications, that can use the plugin. Other apps shouldn't even see, that the plugin exists... hm, maybe that is not possible... however, any ideas?

ps: I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 on a new MBR (Intel, i5) with a brand new OS install.

edit: more info:
I am using Crazor-MenuBarHider-bc71ce6.zip and built the plugin from this source with xcode myself. The plugin seemed to work as supposed until I wanted to run eclipse.

The question is who is "responsible" for this problem? Does the plugin fulfill the Apple conventions? Does eclipse handle SIMBL-plugins right (must it do so?) ?
