htmgem's Issues

tags without children are not self-closed

HTML5 allows for tags that are completely void of children to be self-closed, like this:

<script src="foo.js"></script>

<!-- equivalent to above -->
<script src="foo.js"/>

However, htmgem never does this, and this creates stray tags, such as:

</img>
</meta>
</link>
</br>

I apply a quick fix for that (screenshots below), but it would be better if elements like these were closed to begin with. The HTML5 standard allows for this.

I wish I could contribute to this project, since this is one of the few simple HTML libraries out there, and the simpler, the better. However, I'm quite busy with my work, and I can't implement this myself. I'm leaving this ticket as reference in the event someone with more time wants to tackle this.
