lazyviewport's Introduction

Lazy Viewport 1.3

Blender 4.0 updated!

What does it do?

A simple addon for blender to map the standard G, R, S hotkeys to the view tools, so you don't have to use the snapping hotkeys X, Y, Z.

Instructions:

  1. Remove any older version of lazy viewport that you may have installed.
  2. Download the .zip file using the green button "Code" and then the drop menu button "download zip"
  3. Extract the zip.
  4. In blender, go to Preferecens>Addons>Install and navigate to your extracted lazyviewport.py
  5. When installing, select the python file, not the folder.

Once installed, use G, R, S with the user friendly viewport gizmo tools :)

Edge/Vert Slide:

Use shift+v. You can also do these via the menus in edit mode. The standard "G" then "G" does not work with the standard Blender view tools, thus not working with the Lazy Viewport Add On.

Rotation Snap:

Use ctrl+left click to snap incrementally. The standard stapping with the 90 degree hotkeys oes not work with the standard Blender view tools, thus not working with the Lazy Viewport Add On.

Adjust Proportional Editing:

This one is a little tricky! While move the object, using middle mouse to scroll and adjust the size of the propportional editing ring. You must left click and drag to edit and while your editing, then using middle mouse, using the left click and middle mouse at the same time.

Scale Snapping:

While dragging on an axis, you can utalize the zero key to snap. Rotation: Use Ctrl + Left Click and drag on an axis to snap incrementally.

Yay for lazyness!

lazyviewport's Issues

[BUG] Enable/Disable Addon Broken

so the bug i have found is if you install this enable it then disable the addon in blender 2.90.1 it stays active in a save file even if u delete it from the users folder and blenders install location folder.

i was going to test the addon to see if i liked it better than doing it the default way so i wanted to disable it to compare vs the old way.

i added my .blend files for the project the addon is removed from but still active in

Small Robot.zip

Quick Grammar correction

Thank you so much for putting this together, it's an excellent project.

I just wanted to give my two cents with a quick grammar correction

in this section of the README.md:

3. In blender, go to Preferecens>Addons>Install

it saysPreferecens instead of Preferences

That's it!

Thank you so much again for the excellent work

Menu Disablement

If you set on Blender right click selection and have this extension enabled then the W key won't bring up the menu that would be brout up if you right clicked while using left click selection.

Extrude shortcut defaults to Extrude Region when Extrude along Normals is set

Hi, not sure if this is actually an issue or not but when I manually set the Extrude toolbar option to Extrude along normals and then later press the E key it tries to Extrude region instead. The only workaround I've found so far is to not use the shortcut key at all and select the extrude option from the toolbar. Sometimes if I right mouse click and then Ctrl+Z to undo the new faces it will go into Extrude along normals as originally expected and from there I can extrude along normals. Also not sure if this happening because of the Lazy Viewport plug-in or not but only started to notice it after installing it.

I am running Blender version 2.91.2.

Love the plug-in btw - makes G, S, R much easier!

S & R'works, but G doesn't..

Hi,
Nice lazy addon! ;)
Have followed the instructions and as mentioned in the title, it works for Scale & Rotate, but not for Grab.. - Don't know what might have gone wrong, it seems a bit strange..
But thanks for det addon, it seems like a very useful shortcut.. :)

A way to toggle between Blender's S, R, G and lazyviewport with a single key?

Sometimes we need (or want) to use Blender's bad translation tools and other times your great lazyviewport addon. Is there a way to toggle between both functionality without having to use something like Shift-Spacebar, then selecting a key? It would be great to have a single toggle key that turns on and off your lazyviewport addon, on the fly.

Occasionally doesn't work

Sometimes when I switched out blender and do something else.
The xyz axis arrows just disappeared and I have to reopen blender to make them appear again.
And it is verified that if I turn the addon off, those arrow immediately appear again.
So I assume this is a small bug. I am using in blender 2.90.1.

Please make this usable for non-programmers.

What am I supposed to do with this? I know where .py files go in Blender but I can't download the thing. Clicking on it just shows me a pile of code. Remember that many (most?) Blender users are artists and see this code stuff as just a string of incomprehensible gibberish. That doesn't mean we're stupid, we're just not programmers and have no interest in learning it.
Thanks.
Bob

Edit Mode Move along Normals

Normally in edit mode I double tap G to move along the Normals, but with the plugins it only lets me to move along the axis. Is there a way to make it work?

It doesn't work in the Edit Mode of Lattice

I'm using in blender 2.91.0. The Lazyviewport is an amazing tool for me. It is fine for the most time. But when I add a Lattice ,press Tab, it's not working when I try to move the points of the Lattice.
PS: Your Blender tutorials is great. Thank you very much.
