Synopsis

Manage the BDII grid information system.

Documentation for BDII is available here

To use a bdii resource, it should be enough to simply:

include bdii

To manage site bdii, it is expected that hiera should be used to configure the sitebdii parameters, however it is in theory possible to modify the defaults in params.pp if this is more convenient.

Class Parameters to bdii

  • manage_firewall Defaults to true.
  • log_level defaults to DEBUG
  • port defaults to 2170
  • user defaults ldap
  • slapdconf defaults to /etc/bdii/bdii/bdii-slapd.conf
  • delete_delay defaults to `/deleted
  • $selinux defaults to true

Deprecations

Previously all configurations could be specified by setting e.g. bdii::params::site_name within hiera. These are all now class parameters so this one should be bdii::site_name for instance. Eventually support for settings via the params.pp will be removed.

puppet-bdii's Issues

Keeping the puppet forge module up-to-date

Dear CERNops devs,

I just stumbled across Puppet 4 incompatibilities with your puppet forge module (CERNOps/bdii).
However, one of them was fixed 5 months ago (0ede618), the other one yesterday (8bd9486).

Are there any plans to keep the puppet forge module up to date (latest is "Version 0.1.0 released Sep 19th 2014")?
The other modules (cvmfs, fetchcrl) seem to be up-to-date.

Cheers,
Luke

BDII_DELETE_DELAY must be tweakable

Hi,

I just had to restart and restart again a site BDII each time there was a VO changing its tags on the CREAM CE, because those did not disappear from the site BDII.

It appears that the parameter BDII_DELETE_DELAY is hardcoded in a template.

I'm looking at it right now so that it can be changed to 0 or something more relevant for site bdii only - but that should not rely on hiera to change a param, and that's kind of an issue with the way the module is written...
