I put together an FAQ page for both challenges with some pictures illustrating different parts of the visualizations. The images are displaying on the FluSight page, but not the State FluSight page - there's just a link to download the file rather than the in-line image.
Depending on the challenge, being able to specify the maximum value of y-axis for visualizations would help with seeing details of the forecasts
Week 45 ILINet data are not updating on the national and regional forecasting page even though they are posted on the FluView site.
It seems like those forecasts have lost the connection to the observed ILI values. They were working this morning and had updated to Week 45 data, but now look similar to how the state forecasting visualizations looked before the recent fix.
For the hospitalization visualizations, observed data needs to be added, similar to observed ILINet. Data can be accessed using https://gis.cdc.gov/GRASP/Fluview/FluHospRates.html. I've attached a zip file with the R function to pull the data as well as a CSV containing the results if you run
hospitalizations(surveillance_area = "flusurv", region = "all, year = 2017)
.
For the plots, we would want to use year_wk_num
for the x-axis, weeklyrate
for the observed value on the y-axis, and the plots are grouped by age_label
. I believe I've correctly input the age labels as the "locations" for the plots so they should match the age_label
values exactly.
Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help more.
I just uploaded the next set of forecast dates for January, but none of the forecast dates are displayed on the admin side. I logged in with my user account and can see the future submission dates there, but nothing shows up on the admin side no matter what month I click on (see screenshot).
Also, thanks for adding the month by month functionality - that will be super helpful.
It would be nice to allow the user to determine the label of the y axis on the visualizations for projects that don't use ILI
Hello,
This is Saurav from Team 4Sight. I am trying to upload the flu predictions to the CDCEPI website. Given below are the sample errors that I am getting while uploading every week.
EW3-4Sight-2017-01-30.zip
Target Season peak percentage, Location US National pair invalid.
A Bin upper or lower bound does not match Project setup.
Target 1 wk ahead, Location US National pair invalid.

Target 2 wk ahead, Location US National pair invalid.

Target 3 wk ahead, Location US National pair invalid.

**Target 4 wk ahead, Location US National pair invalid.

I can download the national/regional JSON files without issue, but when downloading the state submissions for a week the download cuts off partway through, even though it indicates that it is finished. For example, the EW44 download should be ~42MB, but at most I am able to download 40MB before cutoff, usually around 20-25MB. This isn't an immediate priority but wanted to note it before I forgot.
This looks great! I've re-opened because there are still two states that are not rendering correctly - Louisiana and Mississippi. These states have elected not to publish their ILI data publically so those data aren't available to pull from online like the other states are. Is there a way to have the forecasts from these two states show up correctly, even though there won't be any observed truth to compare them against?

I've finally uploaded submission templates for the retrospective hospitalization project. I set the due date manually to November 2, 2017. However, when I log in to my user account to submit the historical average forecasts, I don't see any available forecast to submit to. I also tried changing the due date to tomorrow (Oct 17) but still do not see anything (see screenshot below)
One of the submissions this week did not have the point predictions upload properly. Looking at the CSV, the bin_start_incl
and bin_end_notincl
values are blank, rather than NA
as specified on the template. Could this be causing the point predictions to not upload? The CSV submitted is attached.
Not sure how much work this would be, but if team names could pop up in bubble when mousing over the week ahead forecasts, similar to how they do when mousing over the peak forecasts, that would be helpful. Showing the numerical value of the forecast would be a plus but I think the team name alone would still be really helpful.
Behaviour found with Louisiana.
Is there a way to reorder which plot displays by default in the visualizations? For hospitalizations, I want "Overall" to be the default, followed by the age groups in order.
Description of problem
Not possible to upload forecast csv file through the website.
Message displayed says: "Error contacting server... Please try again later".
Steps to replicate
Go to submission tab and select file to upload. After 2 minutes or so,
error message appears.
I also tried uploading the original template file provided in the website to make sure it's not due to
unexpected changes in said template when filling it with data. Error still occurs.
Attaching screenshot below.
In the list of state names, "Massachusetts" is currently misspelled as "Massachetts" and no data are being displayed
Sorry to add another issue, but the interactive visualizations only have observed ILI values up to week 41 (week 43 is currently published) and the view defaults to showing that week, which means users have to click in order to see the forecasts submitted during week 44.
Can we have the visualizations default to showing the most recent forecasts received? The forecasts themselves are rendering great once the correct week is selected.
@craigjmcgowan Changes are live. Please do your own testing and le me know how it goes.
Just putting this on here to have a record of it - seems like the visualizations are now pulling the data correctly for each week, but there's no vertical scale to the graph so everything ends up in a line on the bottom.
It would be helpful as a sanity check on the submission page to see the original filename that was uploaded. I often choose a file and then wonder whether I chose the right file (instead of choosing, say, the file from one week before). This would be a helpful way to backtrace any errors as well if there are any questions about the file itself.
I have tried to upload my CSV (Excel file) about a dozen times today. It appears to be uploading as I get a "Processing" message, but then it stops without indicating whether it was successful. The field is blank and the Past Submitted folder states that I don't have any past submittals.
