Hello! Here is some quick feedback (largely on aesthetics) for your HW #3 visualizations (please excuse the brevity of my statements). I did not read any of your written responses, so it’s possible that you address some of what I’ve written there and already have plan to make those changes in HW #4. My feedback does not indicate whether or not you received a Satisfactory or Not Yet score -- Sevan will be reviewing your assignment more holistically and against the rubric specifications.

Plot #1 (training plan)

• Cool!
• Consider checking out this calendar-style plot using geom_tile(): https://thisisdaryn.netlify.app/post/making-a-calendar-visualization-with-ggplot2/

Plot #2 (hexbin)

• Make hexes a bit larger
• Remove gridlines (a bit distracting)
• Make axis text/labels and legend text larger
• Consider some text updates:
• Legend title = “# of runs”
• Add some additional context to your annotations, e.g. “Boston Marathon 2021, completed 26.2 miles in X hours)” (or whatever this marathon was), “The Teton Crest Trail was my longest race, clocking in at ___”
• Title and subtitle don’t really fit what your plot is showing

Plot #3 (bar)

• Use title/subtitle to provide the takeaway (e.g. “Training should peak around weeks X-Y” or “A mix of cardio activities is great, up until ~week X where I transition to primarily running” (that’s a bit wordy, but hopefully you get the idea!)
• Remove gridlines (distracting)
• Remember to check your colors for colorblind-friendlyness!
