jb-roku's Introduction

Just imagine sitting back on your couch, turning on your flat-screen, and watching Chris and Matt discuss the battle lines being drawn between the Wayland and Mir camps (maybe even in a monkey suit) in crisp 720p HD. That dream is now a reality, thanks to Roku and the Jupiter Broadcasting Roku channel.

Installing

This channel is in the Roku Channel Store. To use the channel, you can add it to your Roku by finding it in the Channel Store, or by clicking the following link: https://owner.roku.com/add/JBTV. You can also sign in to your Roku account and add the channel with the private code JBTV. If you run into any problems or have any feature suggestions, feel free to drop us a note here.

Contributing

The Jupiter Broadcasting Roku channel is open source! Primary hosting is located at GitHub, so you can contribute by forking and sending a pull request. If you would like to help with development or design, get in touch with cbojar in JB's IRC chatroom on Geekshed. To develop code, you will also need to register with Roku as a developer to gain access to their SDK. Having a Roku to test on is also highly recommended.

jb-roku's Issues

multiple live feeds

Hello, Would there be a way to add multiple live feeds to the home page of the app or could you provide insite in how to add these other feeds?

Unceremoniously crashes if there are no upcoming events

The live stream screen pulls an event feed. If that feed has no events (say if we're only looking a week ahead but @ChrisLAS takes a week off), then the app unceremoniously crashes out to the home screen. Basic fix is to always make sure there are always events in the feed. I need to add a check in the app code to count how many events there are, and handle appropriately if there aren't any.

add audio too the show too

i would if we could do like you did to live steam channel with watch and listen to the show in list
because we do rss for both

I have a job to do

I have a job to do at an app for Roku want to make a new app you could do the job

Audio Only

I have been looking around your roku apps. And found a bug that doesnt allow you to have a result.audio tag without the result tag. Is there a way to just have audio under a GetLiveSteam?

Fallback to local OPML if remote is unreachable

Because the main JB site and the site where Roku resources are hosted are separate locations, the app could function in a limited capacity without the remote Roku resources. The app should fall back to a local OPML file, and should handle a a failure to fetch live stream information. There should be some indication that this has happened, like a pop-up, so that we can still get feedback when trouble starts.

The app should still fail if the main JB site is out of commission, maybe by making a HEAD request and seeing if it comes back correctly.

video stream appears bigger than my screen

I have a 720p tv that I use the roku on and when watching any stream using the jb chanel, the video appears to be cut off on the left, right and bottom. I don't know if the top is cut off because there is nothing like the lower third with text off the screen to notice. I have attached a photo of the instagram faux show so its easy to see the issue with the chat lower third

Additional live streams via remote OPML

Add the ability to add live streams in addition to archive feeds via the remote OPML file. If this had been there now, could have added the BSDCan stream to the channel when it went live.

Crashes at end of video

<westexjeff> cbojar: The last few days my ROCU will dump me back to the ROCU Home screen and out of whatever JB Show I'm watching if I let it run to the end of an episode. Very annoying bug.
