Hi there,
I'm trying to run my JUnit tests in parallel on the same JVM instance (I want
all tests to use the same connection to the server, so am using the singleton
pattern), is there a way to do this? Looks like maxParallelTestThreads sets the
number of JVMs, whereas I want to use only 1 JVM.
If there's a way to do this, it would make my life a lot easier. I've tried all
alternatives (including Maven Surefire) but can't use any of them. Any help
would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set the system property maxParallelTestThreads in the test class as
System.setProperty("maxParallelTestThreads", "2");
2. Run test class
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect two tests to run in parallel, but there are 4 tests launched instead
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
junit-toolbox version 1.8 (because v. 2.0 throws
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Unsupported major.minor version 52.0),
Win8, Firefox 34.0.5
Please provide any additional information below.
I'm not sure if this is the correct way to set the system property, but I
couldn't find any information on this in the project description. Please help :)

Parameterized tests can be executed faster if the tests for each parameter set
are executed concurrently.

Within our environment it is necessary to execute the tests from the packaged
jar file. This fails because WildcardPatternSuite.getBaseDir() returns a File.
For us it would be better if it would return an InputStream instead.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
You can reproduce the problem by following the steps described on:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18055189/why-my-uri-is-not-hierarchical
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected is a runing test suite.
Instead I get an exception:
Testcase: initializationError(<myPackage>.MyUnitTests):
Caused an ERROR URI is not hierarchical
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI is not hierarchical

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Abstract test suite in a shared project:
@RunWith(WildcardPatternSuite.class)
@SuiteClasses("**/*Test.class")
@ExcludeCategories({ SlowTests.class })
public abstract class AbstractAllNonSlowTestSuite {
}
2. Concrete test suite in each concrete project extending from the shared
abstract one:
public class AllNonSlowTestSuite extends AbstractAllNonSlowTestSuite { }
3. Test class with 1 slow test:
public class With1SlowTest_Test {
@Test
public void a() {
fail();
}
@Category(SlowTests.class)
@Test
public void testSlow() {
fail();
}
}
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I think because IncludeCategories annotation is not annotated with @Inherited,
With1SlowTest_Test.testSlow() is not filtered/excluded when executing
AllNonSlowTestSuite.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.8
Please provide any additional information below.
I was trying this approach with abstract test suite with whole configuration to
avoid a little bit of duplication in each project's test suite. I hope I have
not missed anything.

I would like to be able to define all my suite classes into a separate
(probably parallel) package so I can organize them. My idea was to add
something like :
@RunWith(ParallelSuite.class)
@SuiteClasses("../tests/**/*.class")
public class AllTests {
}
but now the base has to be the current folder.
PS: Please, correct me if it is not right and there is a way to achieve what I
wanted.
