canonned3d-map's Issues

MAP SUGGESTION: Kepler Space Telescope Catalogue (confirmed as in-game)

I have confirmed NASA's Kepler Space Telescope catalogue (Kepler Object of Interest (KOI) and Kepler-xxx appears to be loaded into Elite Dangerous. The reason this is important:

  1. The main goal of the this mission was exoplanet detection
  2. Secondary goal was metallacity (this determines which population a star falls under) and is useful in detecting exceptionally old stars
  3. Prior Elite games and novels have suggested in the past that Raxxla is exceptionally old (now whether this is cannonical is a matter of debate)
  4. Raxxla Codex has an indirect reference to "star lover" and "star"

Relevant Data sets:
https://www.edsm.net/api-v1/systems?systemName=Kepler-&showCoordinates=1&showPermit=1
https://www.edsm.net/api-v1/systems?systemName=KOI%20&showCoordinates=1&showPermit=1

Why to add this new map and why this catalogue?
These stars are spread out across the galaxy. This would give at least a visual idea of where older stars exist. Whilst not officially confirmed as cannon this would further our goals by isolating regions that may be relevant to our search for Raxxla.

a new map

Possible Solution

Visually may help locate potential search zones for Raxxla

Context

Trying to see if the KOI and Kepler-xxx systems are relevant to the "star lover/Astrophel/Astrophil" part of the Raxxla Codex

SYNUEFE RD-J B39-0 plots in different location to ED map?

Expected Behavior

Current Behavior

Looking for brain trees near California Sector using CanonnED3D. SYNUEFE RD-J B39-0 comes up with the coordinates -761-761-224.

Pasting 'SYNUEFE RD-J B39-0' into the ED Galaxy Map, plots it the other side of the bubble at 1,200 -762 -300.

Possible Solution

Someone check it?

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. open https://map.canonn.technology/biology-combo.html
  2. Make sure Brain Trees are highlited
  3. Click on 'SYNUEFE RD-J B39-0'
  4. Copy 'SYNUEFE RD-J B39-0' from the "Infos' setion and paste into ED galaxy map
  5. Compare coordinates

Search table does not show all lines with some display settings

Expected Behavior

I expect the search hit table in the lower left corner to display all entries.

Current Behavior

With Firefox / Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge, it does not show some lines at the end of the table, nor the bottom 'down' scroll
button.

Possible Solution

The problem seems related to the screen magnification I've configured (see below). If I reset it to normal (i.e. 100%) the problem goes away. (checked with all three browsers).

Possible to circumvent partially by selecting the name of the last species in the Name box, and so restrict the contents to just that species, instead of the full genus.

Based on other applications that showed similar issues on the same platform, I suspect that current display magnification is not factored in when size of the scrollbox is calculated.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

Note bug relation to display settings, which may be difficult to reproduce exactly.

  1. Visit https://map.canonn.tech/codex.html?hud_category=Biology&sub_class=Aleoids&english_name=
  2. Note that the lower part of the scroll bar of the search hit table (especially the 'down' button) is not shown.
  3. Drag the scrollbar as far down as possible
  4. Note that the last fully shown line is 'Aleoida Spica - Teal' but a following line is partially visible below it. (Expected contents is 'Aleoida Spica - Yellow'.) (Different browsers behave differently here -- with Chrome and Edge I see also the entry for Turquoise)

Context

No major impact, as I can always restrict my searches as noted above. But it is is occasionally difficult to remember that the presence of a scrollbar in this table means that I can't see the last few entries.

Your Environment

I have a 1920 x 1080 display. I run Windows 10, and have the display configured for 125% magnification.

I've tested Mozilla Firefox 112.0.1 (64-bit), Google Chrome Version 112.0.5615.138 (Official Build) (64-bit), and
a older Microsoft Edge Version 112.0.1722.39 (Official build) (64-bit)

I include a screenshot of the leftmost part of my display, showing Firefox and the 'bottom line(s) not shown' issue

Addition to the UIA map projections

Since current UIA projections ( https://map.canonn.tech/route_uia.html ) do not have them converging on a singular location there are three particular systems worth monitoring relative the respective paths:
Witch's Reach ( https://eddb.io/system/19054 )
Alpha Hydri ( https://eddb.io/system/3433813 )
Bellica ( https://eddb.io/system/289615 )

All of these are unknown permits in close proximity to Sol

Expected Behavior

Allow us to track if these systems will be pass points for the UIAs

Current Behavior

Currently, we only have nearest known systems and systems known to have had uptick in Thargoid activity.

Possible Solution

Include the above systems for predictive purposes.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

Context

Witch's Reach may yet prove important as "The Witch/Wycherley" was responsible for Proteus wave weapon.

Track named megaships (e.g. "Gnosis") in Maps

Cannot find the "Gnosis" anywhere in any of the maps developed so far!

Expected Behavior

Map marker denoting the current location of any named megaships, (eg. "Gnosis")

Current Behavior

Map markers exist for generic ID-numbered megaships, but nothing for organization-controlled named megaships.

Possible Solution

A suitable marker for "Gnosis" and other such megaships.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. A perusal of menus offers no options where "Gnosis" will appear.

Context

All functional map operational contexts.

Your Environment

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise (desktop)

[Feature Request] Squadron Map

I believe that it would be a great idea if we had a squadron map that displayed the location of squadron members based on EDMC data. This would allow for a visualization of what areas are being explored, and it would also allow us to possibly meet more squadron members by knowing where they are and giving us the opportunity to go and give them a visit.

This feature should most likely be reserved for squadron members only.

There's not much more to it, but I believe it would be a fantastic addition that many of us would enjoy.

Enter the locations (-1000 950 -3050) and the map goes to the location

Dragging the map around to try and find where I am in the game is a pain. I see the map references (not sure what they're called) in the grids in your map and can see my location grids in game but have trouble lining the two up.

You may have a map where this works currently but I haven't found it.

That's all!

Incorrect canvas height value

Hi! I'm working on integrating your map sources (with copyrights, of course!) into one web site, and right now I'm facing some problems with map <canvas> element.
If you help us, I'm sure we could donate something to Canonn...

Expected Behavior

Map should take up all space available.

Current Behavior

Map canvas has incorrect height value:

<canvas width="1918" height="0" style="width: 1918px; height: 0px; z-index: 5;"></canvas>

As a result, map has incorrect position and size on page:

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

I have an example repository that illustrates issue: https://github.com/kam1sh/kvision-sandbox/tree/ed3dmap/src/main/resources

(Before it was writte in KVision (Kotlin/JS web framework), but I managed to get it working only on plain HTML/JS/CSS)

Context

I want to have Elite Dangerous 3D map with our waypoints (fleet carriers, thargoids NHSS, faction objectives etc) on our web site.

Allow input of your Coordinates into the map

Allow input of your Coordinates into the map this would then allow you to see POI's that are nearby that you may want to visit.

Expected Behavior

Insert your current Coordinates in XYZ or System Name Format and then the map will centre on that possition

Current Behavior

Currently it doesn't do this as far as I'm aware

Possible Solution

Input field for Coordinates or System Name. The latter would require that the system is current know by EDSM so using EDSM should be a prerequisite

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

N/A

Context

I currently use several spreadsheets to locate nearby POI's

[Map Suggestion] Settlements

Expected Behavior

Have a new 'Settlement' category, similar to Generation Ships, on the CanonnED3D - Maps. And players could use the EDMC-Cannon tool to collect data on Settlement names, locations, security and populations, which would update the Settlement category.

Possible Solution

I have no experience with anything related to this, so if it's too much work or otherwise just not doable, ignore me. :)

Context

Put simply, my goal is to find as many viable ways of collecting materials as I can. Currently, there are already some great min-maxing techniques for this, which involves lots of relogging and trading. But I want to find consistent ways of collecting specific materials for the intent of: giving players more options on the types of activities they can do while gathering, reduce or remove the need for relogging, and possibly remove the need for trading. One great way of collecting encoded materials, and in some cases manufactured materials, is via settlements. For settlements, I've been taking pictures, figuring out the best ways of "raiding" them for their materials, etc., which has been going well enough. The problem however, is that I've largely been at the mercy of randomly stumbling upon them in the first place.
